Here is another piece from my interview. This time, I deal with the strongest surviving myths out there (which refuses to die) - alcohol, sugar, non-sugar sweeteners and vitamin D. The evidence against my stance on alcohol was this: "Lancet's Editor-in-Chief" says people can have few drinks. This is not how medical science works. This is not how public healthcare works. Another healthcare myth, that diet sodas containing aspartame causing cancer is also wrong. It was based on series of studies in rats. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and other critics questioned the results, suggesting the reported tumors might have been inflammatory lesions caused by chronic respiratory infections common in older rats, rather than cancer caused by aspartame. It is proven beyond reasonable doubt that alcohol is a cancer-causing agent even with low levels of use and has zero nutrient value. Hot off the press: As TB continues to demand long and complex treatment regimens, @VivekRaoigib and his team at @IGIBSocial explored the potential of repurposing sertraline, an FDA-approved antidepressant, as an adjunct to standard TB therapy.
