The entire newsroom at ABC affiliate WRTV in Indianapolis was fired on Tuesday after the E. W. Scripps Company sold the station to Circle City Broadcasting, which owns another station (WINK-TV) in the same market. indystar.com/story/news/loc… $SSP

@eVanguard @AlanMCole SFO doesn’t use TSA agents for security screening. The airport uses a company called Covenant Aviation Security and they are not impacted by the current lapse in funding.

@AlanMCole SFO was basically walk-up as well last Friday afternoon. Don't look micro, look macro to find out why some airports are seeing success.

Is there an explanation why DCA and IAD seem to have oddly excellent TSA during the shutdown while other places, especially BWI, are disasters?

New: @RahmEmanuel, headed to NH and SC this week, is prepping a presidential campaign that’s a rolling rebuke of his own party. Can he really win in 2028? He sees a weak field. “The answer to that is: It’s a jump ball,” he told me. “Even for the frontrunner, it’s a jump ball.” politico.com/news/magazine/…

@SamanthaJoRoth @Dylan_Oakes your pilots are more focused on following checklist and trying to get re set up for another landing in that 5 minutes

Very strange - our flight just tried to land at DCA and as we were close to touching down, we lifted back up again.

@SamanthaJoRoth It can certainly be unsettling if you don’t know what’s going on. I had a last second go-around at DCA about two weeks ago. I personally find them fun. 😂

@Dylan_Oakes Thank you for the education! When I tweeted we didn’t know exactly what happened. The runway was in sight and all of the sudden we lifted back up with no announcement for 5 minutes.

If you take your luggage during an emergency evacuation you should be immediately banned from flying for life. Full stop.

It’s so weird that this never happened during past shutdowns that were longer! Can’t wait for this clearly political move to blow up in the Trump regime’s face. apple.news/A2-gl79kOQamq2…

The “River Visual” approach to runway 19 at DCA is one of the most fun approaches you can fly in an airliner. Essentially, it’s a twisting & descending flight path – flown visually by following the Potomac – that rolls out aligned w/ runway 19 only at the very last second. You can back up the visual with a GPS overlay to give you some guidance, and it’s your choice to fly it by hand or not, but I recommend hand flying…sometimes automation isn’t managed well on this kind of an approach. Do not go East of the River, or you’re in restricted & prohibited airspace. A common error is not managing your speed & altitude well, resulting in being too high & fast when you roll out at the last second to align with the runway, resulting in a go-around. I see this regularly when waiting to takeoff. I recommend passengers keep the window shade open; the left side gets a great view of the city, but it’s neat from both sides.

Warning if you take Amtrak, there are a lot of cancellations today beyond even the ones listed below. Many Acelas cancelled also. Amtrak says it doesn’t have enough engines to run its trains because it is having to do maintenance work on them after the winter storm.
