@DefiantLs He likely can't win either a Dem or GOP primary, but remains popular with PA voters. Best move would be to run in the general as an independent.

Terrence Malick's "Days of Heaven" (1978) wasn't a commercial success: its box office gross of $3,446,749 was only slightly more than $3 million, the amount it cost to make the film. Charles Bluhdorn, who ran Gulf + Western, the parent company of Paramount, was so impressed with the movie that he offered $1 million for Malick's next project, no matter what the movie was. Malick accepted—even though he was worn out. However, since Malick was exhausted and bruised after filming "Days of Heaven", he retreated to Paris with his girlfriend, Michie Gleason. It took 20 years for him to make his next film, "The Thin Red Line" (1998). ("Thirty-Three Years of Principal Filming", Bilge Ebiri, NY Mag, 2011 & "The Runaway Genius: Behind Terrence Malick’s The Thin Red Line", Peter Biskind, Vanity Fair, 2010)

@SquarePegDem So when the city is the landlord, ongoing maintenance costs justify hefty rent increases?

Melinda Marx's contract for the April 1960 "Bell Telephone Hour" version of "The Mikado." She played Peep-Bo - one of the Three Little Maids and the ward of Ko-Ko, the Lord High Executioner, played by her dad. Groucho had to co-sign the contract, because she was 13 at the time.

@tonywendice1954 I met her once in the mid-'70s backstage at -- of all places -- a United Jewish Appeal telethon. For some reason, Shelly Winters was not happy to see her.

The film is based on the real-life escape from Stalag Luft III during World War II and remains one of Hollywood's greatest war films. Featuring legendary stars Steve McQueen, James Garner, and Richard Attenborough. 🎬 The Great Escape (1963)

Mike Wallace, Morley Safer, Ed Bradley and Dan Rather would like a word. All those guys were liberal, but they were ALL -- without an exception -- better than anyone who has been on the show the past 20 years. Leslie Stahl was a joke when she arrived.

@shipwreckedcrew This article in Variety thinks that the "talent" at 60 minutes are irreplaceable Hogwash The self important preening people need to be replaced by hungry journalists who will report on stories that most of the MSM ignores THAT will bring in the viewers variety.com/2026/tv/news/6…

@HenMazzig I'm sure there must be plenty of "Juden sind hier nicht erwünscht" signs in Bavaria left over from the '30s.

“Jews are not allowed to stay with us” Israelis who tried to book a room at a hotel in Bavaria through travel app Booking were shocked to receive a blatanly antisemitic message. Following a complaint they filed, the hotel was removed from the platform. German authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Banning Jews from your establishment isn’t about politics. It’s pure hate.

A cat in New Zealand was secretly living between two different homes for nearly five years, and both families thought the cat belonged only to them. One family named the cat Ollie, while the other knew her as Cleo. The cat regularly moved between both homes without raising suspicion, receiving food, attention, and care from each family. When the families found out, they genuinely felt like they had been used by a cat. Hahaha, I wonder what it feels like to be used by a cat 🤣

People talk about the virtues of the peacetime draft. One of the most lasting was inspiring an entire genre of military comedy: No Time For Sergeants, Sgt Bilko, McHale's Navy (despite WW2 setting), Gomer Pyle USMC, and the immortal Beetle Bailey.

@nicolegelinas The problem is Curtis -- and the fact that there is no longer a functioning Republican Party in NYC (or State, for that mater) capable of finding genuine candidates.

Bill Maher: “What are the chances of California electing a Republican governor?” Kevin McCarthy: “Very slim.” Bill Maher: “Exactly.” Neil deGrasse Tyson: “Massachusetts did it many times. You know why? You can't get bluer than Massachusetts… So, it's not an impossible thing.” Kevin McCarthy: “The top two system the top two system has failed us.” Bill Maher: “Blue states with Republican governors are the most popular because they're in a blue state, so they can't be Ken Paxton. But they're not crazy woke.” “Why can't the whole country do this?”

The Upper West Side of the 1970s: aged holocaust survivors and tweeded intellectuals kibbitzing of childhood adventures in pre-war Poland or the Lower East Side while the hypermodern greater city around them crumbles into fiscal crisis. I savor its vanished aura like fine wine.
