Remember when Kamala Harris hammered Elizabeth Warren about Trump’s Twitter? Warren wouldn’t commit to standing with Harris to suspend Trump’s account, nor to hold big tech accountable. Harris was right about everything.

I am a Democrat. I served in the Clinton administration. I did not vote for Donald Trump and am highly unlikely to support him or his acolytes in the future. I also have serious disagreements with many of the Trump administration’s domestic and foreign policies. But it is profoundly disturbing that a growing segment of the far left appears to be almost rooting for Hamas, Hezbollah, the Iranian regime, and other forces fundamentally opposed to the United States and our allies. This seems to reflects a corrosive strain of anti-Americanism, dressed up in postcolonial theory, that risks blinding us to the moral realities of our world and the nature of our adversaries.

Great analysis, I agree with @stavridisj “This is a big deal, if killing Khamenei was a 10, this is a 8 1/2…this is a big deal taking these two out…drilling down below the 4 star, 3 star, 2 star [Iran political and military leaders]. At some point you may get down to the layer of the rock formation where you can actually have a conversation [with the regime, willing to change behaviors/negotiation points]."
Admiral James Stavridis, USN, Ret.@stavridisj

From the relentless targeting of Iranian leadership to the potential for a U.S. Marine-led operation at Kharg Island... My latest analysis with @JohnBerman on @CNN

Don't ask me to condemn Hamas, said Mahmoud Khalil: Yes, it's "racist" to ask Palestinians to condemn mass slaughter on Oct 7, taking children & the elderly as hostages by Hamas, not to mention the theft of billions of dollars of Gaza's resources, the execution of Palestinians, suicide bombings, the end of the Palestinian national project - just as it's "racist" to ask Muslims to speak out against al-Qaeda, ISIS, and Jihadi terrorists who behead, murder, rape, and enslave in the name of Islam - just as it's "racist" to ask certain African nations to outlaw the practice of Female Genital Mutilation, or to ask China to outlaw Shark Fin Soup that decimates shark populations, or certain Middle Eastern countries to legislate the end of state-sanctioned child marriages. Accusations of racism have become a shield to defend the indefensible, to justify heinous acts, and to protect the sensitive feelings of pro-terror, pro-Jihadi, pro-violence voices who refuse to do what any self-respecting human being should. Palestinians shouldn't be asked to condemn Hamas; it should naturally and organically occur as part of separating the legitimate aspirations for freedom and independence from Islamofascist terror militias (and often does!). Meanwhile, the formal/official representatives of the Palestinian people have condemned Hamas, and, on multiple occasions, NUMEROUS Jewish, Zionist, and Israeli organizations and individuals/leaders have condemned the behavior, violence, and horrid statements of far-right extremists like Smotrich, Ben Gvir, and other Israeli officials. Astonishingly, someone like Mr. Khalil can continue to have access to major platforms that propagate his horrendous and deeply despicable narrative and worldview. Meanwhile, Palestinians who want peace, oppose Hamas, challenge the dominant narratives, and speak out against the behavior of the Western-based “pro-Palestine” movement are attacked, ostracized, and prevented from gaining access to large audiences and spaces. There is a clear, deliberate effort to misrepresent the voices of the Palestinian people by platforming individuals like Khalil who have no right to speak on their behalf.

Sana is right. This is insane. America has every problem under the sun, including on women's issues. Israel, too, has a women's rights problem. Our justice system inherited its family law from the Middle East, from Ottoman imperial millet law. Which...isn't great. It means women are still at a disadvantage in divorce law. But women are also completely equal in the workplace, have strong legal protections against assault and harassment, make up about 50% of the country's judges, including two former chief justices, and so on. The problems matter, but both countries are light years ahead of Iran, where sharia laws of male guardianship still exist and where the regime literally arrested women for incorrect headwear until a couple years ago -- and only stopped because it sparked a nationwide revolutionary movement. I mean, being gay carries the death penalty in Iran. And they're not shy about carrying it out. Third-worldists, those who romanticize every anti-Western thing, no matter how evil it is, will always fall back on the dumbest arguments to justify their self-abnegation.
ثنا ابراهیمی | Sana Ebrahimi@__Injaneb96

There used to be a time when I would sit down and explain to Joy Reid why comparing the situation of women in America to women in Iran, and even implying women have it better in Iran, is an insult to Iranian women and a bald-faced lie. But after the latest verified report of two nurses who were tortured and raped by regime security forces for the “crime” of treating wounded protesters, raped so brutally with foreign objects that one had to have her uterus removed and both now live with colostomy bags, I’m done explaining. For Joy Reid and every idiot pushing that lie, I have only two words and I would like to ask you to deliver it to her: FUCK YOU.

St. Patrick’s Day is not about Palestine or Israel or any other country. St. Patrick’s Day is about Ireland and the Irish people, and we are not a monolith in terms of our belief system on Middle Eastern geopolitics. The Palestinian movement should not be placed at the forefront of Ireland’s national holiday by a mayor who, to my knowledge, has never even been here and who only yesterday openly admitted he had not ‘thought enough’ about the subject of a United Ireland. There are so many things to be proud of in being Irish: our literature, our music, our film, our language. The obsessive grandstanding against Israel, which is very recent in the course of our long and illustrious history, is not one of them. Mamdani should stick to New York, and stop telling Irish people who and what we are. Insulting beyond belief that he co-opts our holiday for his own political agenda.
Chris Sommerfeldt@C_Sommerfeldt

At a St. Patrick's Day breakfast at Gracie Mansion, Mayor Mamdani notes that Irish politicians, like former President Mary Robinson, have long stood in "solidarity" with Palestinians. He praises the Irish for their "resistance" and "unity."

🚨To every Black person tempted by the antisemitic wave sweeping right now:🚨 Back when white mobs lynched us in the streets... When we had no money, no power, and literally no movement... Who stood with us? Who risked everything? The Jews. They weren't just allies—they were family in the fight. - Jewish leaders co-founded the NAACP in 1909 and funded/led it for generations when no one else would. - When Dr. King and our people were arrested, beaten, jailed—Jewish lawyers defended us for free, and Jewish money paid bail bonds and court fees while others turned away. - In Freedom Summer '64, half the white volunteers risking death to register Black voters? Jewish. - Rabbi Heschel marched arm-in-arm with MLK in Selma—our struggles linked forever. Without their blood, treasure, solidarity, and courage—there is no Civil Rights Movement as we know it. No Voting Rights Act. No dream realized. That's why I stand with the Jews. They were our only true friends when this country hated us—when doors slammed shut and ropes hung high. They showed up, bled, and built with us. So to my people joining this demonic, divisive hate today: Pause. Remember. Honor the alliance that freed us. Our histories are bound. Our freedoms were won together. Betray that, and you betray the very martyrs who died for our rights. Black-Jewish unity forged the dream. Don't let hate destroy it. I stand with my Jewish brothers and sisters—always. ✊🏾🤝✡️🇮🇱 Repost if truth > trends. If gratitude > division. If history matters. #BlackJewishAlliance #RememberOurAllies #StandTogether #CivilRightsTruth #NoToAntisemitism

Mahmoud Khalil literally distributed flyers on Columbia's campus supporting terrorism and has defended Hamas as "armed resistance."

This from @jaketapper is just incredible. Going after Mamdani’s wife and bringing on Jonah Goldberg to bash Mahmoud Khalil as “an outright apologist for terrorism” and like “the klan marching in Skokie.”

Just so we are clear, the *Lebanese government* is taking a more reasonable position on a terrorist trying to kill American Jewish children than the New York Times and much of our "elite" and "mainstream" media.
Carlos Abadi@NewSamawal

This is remarkable, the embassy of Lebanon to the United States condemned yesterday’s terrorist attack in Michigan. This is the very first time I. Lebanon’s history that the government gives sanction to a condemnation for Hezbollah hitting Jewish soft targets abroad. Thank you, @YoussefRaggi 🙏

NBC has obtained video footage of the synagogue car ramming attack suspect buying $2,000 worth of fireworks. His plan was premeditated, and he intended to use those fireworks to kill the children attending daycare at the synagogue that day. He was not suddenly overcome with emotion. He was cold and calculated in his thinking. And he tried to carry out something that he clearly believed in before any war. But go ahead and continue to give him more sympathy than the Jewish families who almost lost their children.

It really disturbs me to see my party, the Democratic party, standing with Islamic dictators who run torture dungeons just because they’d prefer Jews roll over and die for Hamas. Ilhan Omar hates Jews and it’s obvious. It’s not the worst thing. The worst thing is my party welcomes these Jew haters with open arms.

The United States gave Netanyahu billions of dollars to fund the genocide in Gaza. Now, Netanyahu and Trump are teaming up for an unconscionable war with Iran. The American people are sick and tired of funding atrocities to appease Israel’s genocidal apartheid regime.

Also, I should add: The union is asking for a minimum salary of over $76,000 for PhD students, even though they are expected to work only 20 hours a week. + Childcare subsidy of up to $50,000 per child/year. For hourly employees, they want $36.50/hour.

🧵Columbia's grad students are on the verge of striking. But it's not about money—it's about control over Columbia. Among their "contract" demands: BDS / divestment from Israel, prohibiting campus police from ever using force, amnesty for expelled students who occupied Hamilton Hall, and more. I report this wild story in @TheFP 1/n cc @CUJewsIsraelis @CU_JewishAlumni @CampusJewHate @shoshanaaufzien @LishiBaker @gil_zussman
Student Workers of Columbia@SW_Columbia

We voted YES to authorize a strike by a whopping 91.5%! Columbia won’t budge on protecting student workers from an authoritarian takeover and a cost-of-living crisis—it’s time to turn up the pressure.
