A woman was shot by a police officer while driving on a public road near Speaker Anita Among’s home.
The police officer didn’t even attempt to save her life as she struggled to get herself to hospital on her own while losing a lot of blood.
Speaker’s people say she was in Bukedea so the woman didn’t even pose any security threat to the speaker (not that if she was home Ugandans should be denied to use the road).
Speaker’s people also say she’s in touch with the family but the police is apparently still “hunting” for the woman.
Why do we have leaders who think they are gods? And it is not just the Speaker. Julius who was killed on Christmas Eve of 2024 was shot because of some other “big person”.
If you guys want to drive on public roads alone perhaps you could allocate money to construct roads only for yourselves because as it is now, the roads are few and narrow and congested but you still come like you’re rushing to do anything ground breaking and violently force people into trenches and now even shoot them!!

Congratulations to you @KagutaMuseveni, you have successfully achieved your goal of wasting Ugandans’ time yet again, both the smart and dumb. Two full weeks of discussing the bogus bill. You have mastered the art of deception and corruption but guess what, on the day of your fall, ALL what you have accumulated will go to waste.
English

Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu. Habaari. Greetings to all of you.
Of recent, I have noticed a lot of orwaari (noise, kelele), regarding the Sovereignty Bill. Which Sovereignty Bill is the rwaari about? The one I initiated in the Cabinet or another one? The Bill will stop FDIs (Foreign Direct Investments), support for religious bodies from abroad, Remittances from Ugandans working abroad, etc., etc. Really!! That is not the Bill I initiated.
Below is clarification on what I initiated.

I’m sure there’s a well connected Ugandan who just wanted market for his devices
Douglas Lwanga@DouglasLwangaUg
Ugandan made devices (copyright management system) to track music played in hotels, bars, media houses, and public spaces for commercial purposes are currently being installed. “These devices will support music royalties collection and distribution. Installation is now underway, The device name is NYANGE” says Eddy Kenzo, UNMF President. #NBSAfter5

@DouglasLwangaUg @unmfederationug @eddykenzoficial @nbstv I don’t why this has reminded me about the Covid vaccine. Wabula Uganda 😹

@IsaacSsemakadde @ug_lawsociety @LawStudentsUg @NUP_Ug @DavidLRubongoya @HEBobiwine @DailyMonitor @newvisionwire @ntvuganda @bbstvug @BBCAfrica I totally agree with you on this, Isaac. This is distraction kabisa. Isn’t it laughable, rather sad that the Junta has succeeded at this mission?! Almost everyone has been drawn to the foolery. Cry, Oh Uganda! 🥲
English

REBELS: The Anti-Sovereignty Bill is noise. The junta wants us debating phantom laws while political prisoners rot in cells. The struggle isn’t in Parliament. It’s in Luzira, Kitalya & Kigo. Gen Z mustn’t lose focus. Ignore the AI-generated distraction. #FreeAllPoliticalPrisoners

The Doctors have presented their case. The economists have done the same and now it will be in the hands of a S.6 dropout to determine the passing of the bill. #SovereignityBill2026

@frankbalkazerg1 Whether her voice is iconic or not, she’s in bed with our tormentors. And that’s the line we drew as Ugandans. Lucifer’s voice was a billion times sweeter than your artist, he’s the current devil today. So what are you telling us??
English

Those attacking Mummy Taj for attending MK’s bd are either being deliberately unfair or conveniently forgetful koz 2yrs ago, she openly clarified her position and explained her reasons in a way that was honest and grounded. Whether one agrees with her or not, that stance was clear👌👌👌and it deserves respect in a system where people are free to associate and support whoever they choose.
She is one of the most iconic voices this country has ever produced. That legacy alone calls for a bit more grace and less selective outrage.

@JohnV2040 @mkainerugaba @KeishaBrilliant If you do two good things and eighty bad ones, isn’t it insane to expect us to remember even one?!
English

@ESsco2n8 @mkainerugaba @KeishaBrilliant Gen M7 has done many great things though, like any other human, he has failed in many. Not true tht he has 'failed to do a thing.'

This coming week, I will be engaging the students and faculty of Harvard and Howard Universities. We shall have conversations about the struggle for democracy in Uganda, and the future of the African continent generally.
On Monday, 27th April, I will be at the Harvard University Center for African Studies in Cambridge, MA. On Tuesday, 28th April, I will be hosted by the African Studies Graduate Students Association (ASGSA) at Howard University University.
These engagements are part of our broader effort to strengthen solidarity and sharpen the ideas that will define Uganda and Africa’s democratic path.

I have seen how law and reality diverge. Democracy erodes in that gap. This report names it—and the reforms we can no longer delay. @AgoraCFR @SpireJim @AAgather

Dear all, please find the @AgoraCFR election report here. It identifies 30 of the people that were killed before, during and after the January 15 elections, those whose family members and eye witnesses we spoke to, 378 of the arrested people most of whom @AgoraCFR participated in their court proceedings, the injured, among other violations.. agoracfr.org/wp-content/upl…

@norbertmao But what is wrong with wishing to stand for president?! 🤷🏿♂️

It’s deeply unfortunate that the system has failed us to the point where life in Uganda is treated as if it has no value. Our people have been conditioned to normalize the abnormal.
How is it “normal” for a mother to die while giving birth and life just moves on? How is it acceptable for someone to go in for a simple surgery and come out in a casket, with no questions asked? You walk into a theatre for treatment and never return. That is not normal. It is sickening. It is disturbing.
We must be human enough to recognize that this is wrong.
In more accountable systems, the doctors in charge would be under immediate investigation. But here, we are too quick to dismiss these tragedies as “God’s plan.” Nedda banange that’s not faith, that’s silence in the face of negligence.
We cannot be so cheap with human life. We cannot continue to accept recklessness without demanding answers.
I speak not just out of anger, but as a victim. I recently lost my cousin due to medical negligence. It hurts. It is unacceptable. Naye mwanna🤦🏾♂️
It’s time we open our eyes and refuse to accept what the system has trained us to tolerate. This is not normal. Apana.
