@in_my_30s @theJeremyVine @LBHF There was less than a 1% increase in traffic on Albert & Chelsea Bridges in 2019. Battersea had 6% and Vauxhall 4%. All traffic increases have reversed since. Traffic over these 4 bridges is down 11% since 2017 and 29% since 2000.

Hammersmith Bridge: When it closed in 2019 #Chiswick was immediately affected by displaced traffic. We Tory cllrs met London's then deputy mayor for transport @Heidi_Labour to discuss re-opening the bridge. Seven years later and we're still waiting ... express.co.uk/news/politics/…?

The only evidence @willnorman has that cycle tracks are safer is a single piece of research produced by Westmister University looking at the injury odds of a collision comparing the tracks in isolation to the intersections. In the real world serious injuries are soaring.

Following an international literature review @activetraveleng are unable to find real evidence that cycle tracks reduce casualties. They are able to say they will give you a false sense of security & increase the perception of safety, and most injuries occur at intersections.
