@juliacambridge1 @thedoctorkhan @AlexanderEhmann @TRLibDems What problem are you trying to solve? Traffic is reduced in Barnes AND on Putney and Chiswick bridges. Thousands of people cross HB every day on foot or on bike. Why do you want the cars back?

The Liberal Democrats 🔶️ were out in force at Hammersmith Bridge today. Both Sarah Olney MP and Transport Chair Alex Ehmann spoke to applause. The message 'restore Hammersmith Bridge to its original state' was appreciated. The government needs to ACT NOW and fund repairs

@AlexanderEhmann @PutneyFleur What you need to do is put in place a way for those less able to walk to get from the Castelnau bus stop to Hammersmith Station. What are you waiting for?

@AlexanderEhmann @PutneyFleur You say the bridge "needs to be fully restored" but why? What benefits would that confer upon people in Barnes, Putney, etc? The closure of the bridge to cars has reduced traffic on neighbouring bridges as well as in the local area. What's not to like?

@PutneyFleur As far as I can remember there’s been over 60 years of congestion in Putney. In fact, since Hammersmith Bridge was closed to cars, there's been a reduction in traffic on Putney Bridge. Fleur knows this, but hey, elections are looming, so let's not let the truth get in the way!

@londonfletsch I completely agree. I can't understand why that road has never been closed to cars. IIRC it once held the title of most polluted road in the UK.

@AldredKeith @HammersmithBri1 What are all the drivers using if not Putney Bridge? Chiswick presumably, or are they using the train instead? I can't imagine demand suddenly fell for crossing the river when Hammersmith Bridge closed.

It's frustrating to be stuck in a bus, behind a queue of cars, when every single person in that queue would fit into the bus we're in. (This is what the southbound journey along Castelnau was like, when Hammersmith Birdge was open to cars.)
