@prestonjbyrne I'd pass it to Ben Habib and Rupert Lowe as well. They will likely give it more legs.

This is a non-partisan project. Any party can pick it up. I am not confident Reform's leadership is prepared to enact a UK First Amendment. I'm pretty sure a lot of Reform activists want the party to do so. So I will give them the bill and let them pile on pressure.

Journalists: the follow-up story to the 4chan hamster is when the lawyer who sent the hamster publishes a model bill that would abolish Ofcom's online safety functions and create a First Amendment style right in the UK That will happen in approximately 10 days.

@SBarrettBar They can call people names as much as they like, if they want to behave like playground bullies, let them, we see what they are. But taking offence to speech should have no legal standing.

We are going to have to do something about the fact that the left feel able to just call everyone racist It's offensive. It's defamation. It cheapens public discourse. And worse, it weakens the wrong that racism is. Steve Reed is a dishonourable man, unfit to be a minister.
Nick Timothy MP@NJ_Timothy

That's a serious accusation to make, @SteveReedMP. To which racial group do you believe I was racist? If you can't answer, we'll be free to conclude you're a liar. x.com/ArchRose90/sta…

Well now — looks like I’m officially a licensed and certified cowgirl 🤠😂 Forty cows, one determined German in a sattle, and not a single one escaping the grand operation — all through the final gates and off to their buyers, exactly as they should be.

Europe’s rush to digital identity mandates has delivered widespread censorship, not safety. American policymakers should learn from these mistakes, not import them.

@babyjan99813012 @TheGriftReport Personal insults? That didn't take long did it. You denigrate others views because the only opinion you hold valid is your own. Blinkered, your contempt is palpable.

This may also be useful to users who just want to see stuff from UK/USA only etc Leave your thoughts in the comments, will you be using it?

Hmm. While it's tragic, I don't think the IRGC give a monkeys about the school or the girls beyond using them for propaganda. Morality? Well its' always been grey, as much as we'd like things to be black and white here, so is it a matter of choosing the lesser evil? Will some sacrifice now prevent more sacrifice in the future? I don't know the answer to all these questions, but it's something to think about. At an emotional level of course I just want it to end.

I am absolutely no fan of Iran, or its regime, but nobody can take the moral high ground and act like the good guys, when there is zero moral consistency. Whether it was an accident or not, a school full of little girls was bombed, so Iran probably feels *as* entitled to retaliate, as Israel did following 7/10. "Ooops" doesn't make their anger dissipate. Both Iran and Israel have missile capabilities - Iran, from Iran's perspective, probably feels entirely justified, and, frankly, the West isn't in a position to argue. They all feel justified, and each time the other one bombs the other one, the other one acts like the victim. The entire situation is ridiculous and unless someone actually does take the high road, and walks away, its only going to get worse. Billionaires sending boys to war is utterly sickening. There has already been too much death. Im not falling for this bullshit again, and neither should you.

Highly significant: Cyprus has formally asked to open discussions about the future of Britain's bases on the island! This definitely has echoes of Chagos.
Προεδρία της ΚΔ@CYpresidency

Written statement by the Government Spokesperson @SpokespersonCY @letymbiotis on the telephone communication of the President of the Republic @PresidentCYP 🇨🇾@Christodulides with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom @10DowningStreet 🇬🇧 The President of the Republic held a long telephone communication today with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom @Keir_Starmer , at the latter’s initiative, in the context of the regular contacts between the two leaders on geopolitical developments in the wider region. During the conversation, the President of the Republic underlined the role of the Republic of Cyprus as a pillar of stability and a reliable partner in the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as the importance of further strengthening coordination and cooperation with the United Kingdom, also within the framework of the Strategic Dialogue between the two countries, which is grounded in close and sincere cooperation, on the basis of mutual respect and a longstanding partnership. The President of the Republic briefed the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on the approach he presented before the leaders of the European Union Member States at the recent European Council, regarding the need to undertake a coordinated initiative, in cooperation with partners, with a view to de-escalating the crisis. He stressed that leveraging multilateralism constitutes the primary diplomatic avenue for strengthening these efforts and for making a meaningful contribution to safeguarding stability, while actively supporting the countries of the region. Within this context, the substantive strengthening of EU–UK relations constitutes an important element, and the Republic of Cyprus supports and will contribute to the further upgrading of this strategic cooperation.  The British Prime Minister concurred and referred to the recent joint statement issued by the United Kingdom together with other countries, including France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, Canada and the United Arab Emirates, in relation to the Strait of Hormuz, which confirms the shared approach towards strengthening multilateralism and focusing on de-escalation. During the discussion, with regard to the British Bases in Cyprus, President Christodoulides referred both to challenges that have arisen and to lessons learned from the management of the crisis thus far. In this context, he presented a proposal for the initiation of relevant discussions. The British Prime Minister reiterated to the President of the Republic that the security of the Republic of Cyprus is fundamental to the United Kingdom and, to that end, a decision has been taken to enhance the means contributing to the preventive measures already in place. Finally, the Prime Minister reiterated that the British Bases in Cyprus will not be used for any offensive military operations. The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact in view of developments in the region and the common challenges.
