@jimsamthomp @WUTangKids You could see issues when they were trying to kill clock with like 9 minutes left. They had mentally decided they were going to leave it all to Swayman and it’s not like Swayman has some glorious playoff history to stand on.

@coolfunghost Great film but it’s John Heard that is mind blowingly good. Though Bridges as usual is excellent. From this to Home Alone is kinda depressing for Heard. He should have been a bigger star. I don’t recall him ever being bad in anything.

I listen to classic albums as the artist intended - on the 1990 compact disc remastered reissue with six mediocre b-sides, three atrocious demo versions and two live versions that sound like they were recorded in an empty swimming pool tacked on the end 👍

Trump is resetting the world order so that the United States no longer finances its own decline in influence, but controls what it pays for. This includes the actions in Venezuela, Iran, and even the Greenland situation. It’s long overdue.

@Vidor1 @thatjameskirk @CentristMadness @bendreyfuss I don’t see the War of 1812 as a victory but considering where we were in 1813 we closed that war strongly. Even the Niagara campaign of 1814 was fought well by the Army. When you win the final battle in a massive route people tend to forget the earlier humiliations.

How is this not the most humiliating military failure in US history? We didn’t accomplish any goals, we failed to stop a regional power from effectively stopping maritime trade, we had to ask China to even get that country to accept our ceasefire offer?

@phl43 It’s going to be politically difficult to restart this war in two weeks if there is a successful ceasefire. I assume Israel will do its damndest to re start the fight but this war polled worse than anything I have ever seen in my lifetime that involves our military.

I just don't see how Trump could possibly have agreed to that to be honest. This is similar to what the Iranians were already letting through these past few days, so basically under this deal they would get a 2-week reprieve on bombing, but they would be allowed to inflict the same amount of physical disruption on the oil and gas market? I don't see why Trump would have to gain. If we had to good reasons to believe that Iran and the US can make a deal by the end of the ceasefire, it would be one thing, but the 10-point plan that Trump himself presented as a good basis for negotiations is such a maximalist plan that it's hard to imagine they will be able to close the distance between their positions in such a short period. I know that Trump himself called it a "workable basis" for negotiations, but this is so absurd that it just adds to my confusion and I think we're missing something here.

From account close to Tehran—not saying it’s correct, but it’s the first real colour we’re getting on what any interim Hormuz reopening during the ceasefire could look like: “During the two-week ceasefire, only about 10 to 15 ships will be permitted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz with Iran's approval, in coordination with the IRGC Navy and after payment of tolls, and the United States is committed to releasing all of Iran's frozen assets. The Strait of Hormuz will in no way—even after a final agreement—be "open" as it was before.” Relative to the pre-war pace of 100-120 ships a day, this would constitute a crack in the door and hardly a proper reopening. Let’s see how many we get tomorrow.

@Vidor1 @thatjameskirk @CentristMadness @bendreyfuss The Naval victories were very impressive and the battle of New Orleans included soldiers who defeated Napoleon. The Canada invasion was a debacle but the naval battles in the lakes prevented a British Invasion of New York.

@thatjameskirk @CentristMadness @bendreyfuss Yes, but 1812, like this war, was a war that we launched w/ certain goals, which like this war we completely failed to achieve. We got our ass kicked a lot--invasion of Canada was a complete fiasco as well. Won some naval fights and at New Orleans, but otherwise, not pretty.
