It was restricted in schools because of sensitive content. The book can still be purchased in Utah bookstores, and home delivered through Amazon. It can also be readily found in Utah public libraries.

"PEN America defines a school book ban as any action taken against a book based on its content and as a result of parent or community challenges, administrative decisions, or in response to direct or threatened action by governmental officials, that leads to a book being either completely removed from availability to students, or where access to a book is restricted or diminished." This is not a "ban" in any sense of the word. If you can get it at library or order it on Amazon, it's not banned. Contrary to communist gobbledygook, not having something provided to you free by the school is not the same as banning something. Banned books in the USSR got you sent to the gulag, in Nazi Germany, to a death camp. If a school says "you may not bring this book to school", I suppose it's fair to say that it's banned from the premises. But selling that as a "banned book" would be the same as selling cell phones as "banned technology" because students are not allowed them in class.

Why is it every time you see something such as this, it's always just "books one specific school district stopped stocking at the library in Futtabuck, Alabama?" Like there are plenty of books that have been banned by various governments around the world, books burned by Nazis, books long out of print that are too controversial to reprint. Hell, I would even accept if these were books that were banned from being brought to schools from an outside source, but no, it's always a combination of international best sellers, pornography and books that are mandatory reading across half the English speaking world.

Stumbled on this, and am astonished by how much butter Americans ate prior to WWII.

This is not how it works. The War Powers Resolution doesn’t give the president a “free” 60 days—and the Constitution certainly doesn’t either. Regardless, we’re talking about a single war. You don’t get to pause it and then pretend it’s a different war.
