@DroidUnderscore @thistlefangirl7 sometimes, but during the linear meta there were still instances where other swaps were optimal which made it feel pretty well rounded. the mod system was also just better so that prob contributed to it feeling better than dps metas post LF.

Destiny takes far more resources to provide the content its gluttonous players want compared to Marathon. Marathon is a safer long term bet because the maintenance cost is lower.

Reminder that a large amount of Marathon hate came from people that thought if the game failed, Bungie would be forced to invest more in Destiny. The opposite was true btw. Marathon's success would've likely given Bungie the room and resources to try to turn D2 around

Void is the best subclass and everytime void stuff was meta (for PvE) it was the most fun to use, I’d take volatile/destab over the other verbs any day

To be clear, it is not ENTIRELY the fault of Marathon haters that D2 is ending. Apparently that needs to be stated every time. MANY factors played a part, most notably Bungie's previous leadership. But Marathon haters were a piece of the larger picture.

@MallowTheQueen d2 still has more players than marathon. it didn't save itself nor is it in a place where it "couldn't save" destiny. The delusion you have to have to find this level of cope is insane.

Marathon succeeded enough to save the studio for now, but not enough to save D2 along with it. It only makes sense that between the dwindling decade-old game with shaky foundations, and the brand new title designed with long-term updates in mind, Sony would focus on Marathon
