I’m pleased to share that the industrial strategy proposals I submitted earlier this year have now been formally sent by @StephenMorganMP to the Secretary of State for Business and Trade @peterkyle The proposals focused on four practical areas that I believe would make a real difference to UK manufacturing SMEs: ⚡ Energy costs. 👷‍♂️ 👷‍♀️ Skills and apprenticeships. 🏭 Public procurement. 💵 Tax and investment incentives. As a Portsmouth-based manufacturing SME, we see first-hand both the strength of UK manufacturing capability and the barriers that can prevent smaller firms from growing, investing and competing. One of the key points I raised was around public procurement. Too often, large public contracts are structured in a way that unintentionally locks SMEs out. A specialist manufacturer may be perfectly capable of producing one component, process or assembly within a larger project, but not the entire finished product. By breaking suitable contracts into smaller lots, or creating recognised SME manufacturing networks, more public spending could stay within the UK economy, supporting British manufacturers, protecting skills, improving value for money and strengthening domestic supply chains. I also believe UK manufacturing has a major role to play in improving the economy, creating skilled jobs, supporting apprenticeships, increasing productivity, strengthening exports and generating long-term growth. A big thank you to Stephen Morgan MP and Jacob Bryan for taking the time to listen, engage with the proposals and put them forward at Government level. UK manufacturing has enormous capability. This is what a copper pan looks like after it's been used. The colour shift you're seeing on the exterior isn't damage. It's patina - a natural result of heat cycling over time. It doesn't affect performance in any way, and to a lot of people it makes the pan more beautiful, not less. Every mark is evidence of use, and every pan from The Heritage, Excell will develop its own over time. The tin lining inside tells a similar story - it darkens gradually with use, which is completely normal and no cause for concern. A darkened lining is a used one. It performs exactly as it should.
