I’m pleased to share that the industrial strategy proposals I submitted earlier this year have now been formally sent by @StephenMorganMP to the Secretary of State for Business and Trade @peterkyle The proposals focused on four practical areas that I believe would make a real difference to UK manufacturing SMEs: ⚡ Energy costs. 👷‍♂️ 👷‍♀️ Skills and apprenticeships. 🏭 Public procurement. 💵 Tax and investment incentives. As a Portsmouth-based manufacturing SME, we see first-hand both the strength of UK manufacturing capability and the barriers that can prevent smaller firms from growing, investing and competing. One of the key points I raised was around public procurement. Too often, large public contracts are structured in a way that unintentionally locks SMEs out. A specialist manufacturer may be perfectly capable of producing one component, process or assembly within a larger project, but not the entire finished product. By breaking suitable contracts into smaller lots, or creating recognised SME manufacturing networks, more public spending could stay within the UK economy, supporting British manufacturers, protecting skills, improving value for money and strengthening domestic supply chains. I also believe UK manufacturing has a major role to play in improving the economy, creating skilled jobs, supporting apprenticeships, increasing productivity, strengthening exports and generating long-term growth. A big thank you to Stephen Morgan MP and Jacob Bryan for taking the time to listen, engage with the proposals and put them forward at Government level. UK manufacturing has enormous capability. We take this time to reflect on what we have achieved so far and some positive announcements to make! Since the 1st January 🇬🇧 372 Metal Spinning projects Completed 🇬🇧 26,703 Metal Spun components completed 🇬🇧 The @heritageexcell becomes the new sponsor for Portsmouth born Boxer, Michael Mckinson as he prepares to take on unbeaten Algerian Boxer Mohammed Sahnoun in Nigeria 🇬🇧 We have acquired two more units, expanding our factory space by a further 200 meters square 🇬🇧 @AMSHampshire have now integrated state of the art Fiber Laser Cutting 🇬🇧 We have purchased a brand new Laser Welder, and have a new CNC Metal Spinning lathe arriving this month. It will boost production for HVAC components and double our capacity 🇬🇧 Since the launch of @heritageexcell, our fully British Made Copper cookware supporting 8 UK SMes and 130 jobs, we have received amazing reviews from well known Pastry Chef Dominique Ashford, Channel 4 Riverside Cottage Chef Gill Meller, Michelin Star Chef Gary Pearce, Love British Food ambassador Philippa Vine, and Premier League Private Chef Tommy Cole. This is just a few things happening here at Excell in the first few months of 2026! We're excited to share more news and announcements with you soon.
