Misleading. Legally, Uganda can ignore European Parliament but NOT without consequences. The Parliament influences funding decisions by the European Commission. It does not impose sanctions, but it can pressure the Council and Commission to do so. It can impact market access.

The resolution called for the immediate release of opposition leaders, including Bobi Wine and Kizza Besigye, and demanded accountability for killings and arbitrary detentions of NUP supporters.
