@AndrewKirbyGolf PGA Tour played LIV to perfection. Created the framework agreement and slow played LIV until until they couldn't play a hand. A lot of golfers got rich but now reality will set in. The money is about to dry up for every one as SSG can get their return.

I’m not sure what’s going to happen to world pro golf But if the PGAT now thinks it can sit back and can carry on with a bad broadcast with mega ads, soft courses and set ups, an ageing demographic watching and a lack of innovation They face some big challenges

Today, 12 months ago, I had the greatest golfing experience @RCDgolfclub. The course bettered every expectation & even the weather played its part. Massive respect to @BillDonald1 and the team. Hope to see you again.

Here’s my annual look at UK summer green fee increases - Average top 100 green fees are ⬆️11.4% - over 3X the rate of inflation - The average top 25 course is now £407 (up 15% on 2025) Here's a thread with some thoughts. You can read it all on my blog too. 🧵1/12

@AndrewKirbyGolf This is the problem when the best talent is split between tours. Scottie's wins are what draw the comparisons and they're easier without Rahm & Bryson. There's not enough talent to sustain 2 tours so better players on both look like greats.

@YoungerGolf Roughly 200-250 PGA Tour Players vs 60,000,000 golfers worldwide. What 200 people do is such the minority in reality the number doesn’t even matter.

@bagshaw2112 I dont know US tax rules but could he claim the costs as a work expense? Even without the claim it's still an incredible ROI.

Shared Something to think about... Rory Mcilroy owns a Gulfstream G650 ER. He flew regularly from his Florida home to Augusta to practice and flew home each day. Look at the costs... a flight takes under an hour. A Gulfstream G650ER burns about 500 gallons per hour in cruise, or roughly 3,140 per hour at a $6.28/gal fuel price reference. For the West Palm Beach to Augusta trip, the straight-line distance is about 474 miles. At a typical G650ER cruise speed of about 600 mph, that trip is roughly 50 minutes, so fuel burn would be about 395 gallons. That works out to about 2,350–2,500 pounds of jet fuel, depending on the exact cruise profile and winds. Using the estimate of about 395 gallons for the trip and a jet fuel price around $4.07 per gallon on the U.S. Gulf Coast, the fuel cost is roughly $1,610 each way. Today. Rory won $4.5 million. Plus, the Nike contract bonus. That's what I call return on investment (ROI) BOOM 💥 @themasters @gulfstreamaero @nike @pgatour #golf

@JCAGOLFReport This is the fallout from LIV begging for, and receiving, OWGR points. A better idea would have been pushing for @DataGolf to be the new measure. The Majors can now use a system that is flawed, and not worry about Special Exemptions.

Flawed system! Ridley's last line: "The purpose of the system [OWGR] is to make sure the best players in the world have an opportunity to play the best tournaments." Unbeknownst to him, Ridley is admitting the OWGR system is flawed since all the current best players in the world are not actually playing the best tournaments. Players from PGAT, DPWT, and LIV Golf that are ranked in the top 50 of other rankings or in the top half of their respective tour standings are not in the Masters field this week. Some examples: The 2nd ranked player in the DPWT Race to Dubai, Jayden Schaper is not in the field. OWGR: 63 Data Golf: 47 The 5th ranked player on LIV Golf, Thomas Detry is not in the field. OWGR: 60 Data Golf: 50 Current PGAT Fed Ex Cup 19th place (4 top 10's in 2026) Ryo Hitsasune is not in the field. OWGR: 55 Data Golf: 48 Maybe it is time that those "best tournaments" as Ridley calls them either add current tour/league standings as entry into those championships and/or forget the OWGR flawed system altogether. PS. Ridley saying that Augusta doesn't have any influence on the OWGR is either laughable or a real sign that the golf establishment coalition is slowly breaking apart. We all know where he actually stands on giving LIV Golf OWGR points and still LIV Golf got them. All it took was 4 votes in favor from the other major golf organizations and PGAT, DPWT, Augusta had to accept it. But those three still managed to discriminate against LIV and have the full board approve separate OWGR rules for LIV Golf (only tour/league in OWGR with a separate set of rules). So, both things are true, Augusta still has some OWGR influence even though Ridley wants you to think they don't have any, and the golf establishment coalition is starting to break apart. 👇👇👇

ANGC Chairman Fred Ridley was asked about the OWGR’s decision to grant @livgolf_league ranking points. He said Augusta’s influence is limited, but is hopeful that LIV will continue to adjust to be granted access to more points in the future.

I just looked at last ~5.5 years of tour data. ▶️1.72% of tee shots went 350+ yards There were 1143 distinct holes in this data set. Of the tee shots that went 350+ yards, ~33% of those shots come from only 20 of those 1143 holes. The tee shots that are 350+ yards tend to happen on holes where there is some combo of downhill, downwind, firm fairways, or playing at high elevation making it easy to hit it a lot longer than normal. ▶️9.81% went 325+ yards ▶️36.89% went less than 280 yards Most of the 350+ yard tee shots at Augusta happen on the 2nd hole and the 9th hole. Over 80% of the tee shots hit 350+ at Augusta are on these two holes. Both those holes play downhill a lot.

"We will continue to make modifications as are necessary to react to driving distances that, in some cases, exceed 350 yards." Fred Ridley speaks on the golf ball rollback.

It’s Monday PM & I’ve had my fill of @TheMasters previews for the week tbh. Suggestions the next few days: 1️⃣ Listen to the players more. 2️⃣ Listen to less of Brandel, Eamon & the CGM. 3️⃣ Enjoy a firm & fast Augusta this week. It will be the ⭐️. No ☔️ for 1st time since 2011.

The establishment golf media has protected Tiger Woods for almost 3 decades. In the article below the author writes: “But no one, not even Tiger Woods, deserves a fourth pass when the consequences of his actions could have easily killed someone or himself. And let’s be frank. Woods has only been caught four times. Who knows how many other Friday afternoons he’s gotten behind the wheel when he shouldn’t have, and was lucky enough to get away with it.” And still, we saw some of the enablers in action yesterday afternoon. The reality is that the golf establishment media has not only protected Woods actions off the course but also his actions behind the scenes on the PGAT board. They have publicly pointed the finger at other players on that board when that board has failed to make the correct decision or a decision they would be pleased, even when they know that those players have been influenced by Tiger and nothing gets done by that board if it’s not approved by him. But they have stood quiet and failed to point the finger at the real culprit so they can stay in his good graces and that of the Tour. As you can see the Tiger Woods enabling by the golf establishment media goes far beyond his personal issues. Maybe this time the golf establishment media will finally get it or maybe in a few days they’ll get their marching orders and everything will go back to where it was before this latest Tiger Woods incident. Time will tell.

@JCAGOLFReport SSG & the Tour need Tiger to grow their investment. No other player moves the needle and that needle has to move otherwise there will be a lot of pissed off people. This will all go away and Tiger will go quiet for a bit, then return triumphantly as the hero.
