I would genuinely rather live in a mid-sized town in Pennsylvania or something than ever move to the Dallas suburbs.
Plausibly I'm much more likely to end up in the Dallas suburbs, because jobs, but still. Would be really, really far down my list of ideal places.

There is already an unbroken line of development along i35 between San Antonio and Austin. The two cities' downtowns are just 70 miles apart, ~the same distance as the Dallas-Forth Worth urban area is wide. How long until they start to merge together?

But in most places it just can't happen without induced demand from both destinations having good mass transit inside the city
It's the only way to get people less car dependent and build density too
