PCU John Basilone Sailors visited the ship namesake's hometown of Raritan, NJ and held a remembrance ceremony ahead of the ship's commissioning. This is the second US Navy ship to bear the name John Basilone.

Today, Sailors from USS John Basilone (DDG 122) and Marines supporting NYC Veterans Week, received a behind the scenes tour of Madison Square Garden.

As NYC concludes the week-long celebration of Fleet Week, we were honored to have the NYPD's flag flown on one of the @USNavy ships alongside the star spangled banner as it departs from NYC's harbor in defense of America's freedom overseas.

Farewell, New York! The amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) departed this morning after an incredible #FleetWeekNYC, where Americans who embody character, competence, and dedication to our mission proudly showed off the incredible warship they serve you on.

On Memorial Day, we pause to remember the fallen and salute those who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our nation. Take a moment to listen to remarks delivered by Adm. Daryl Caudle, commander of U.S. Fleet Forces Command, during his keynote address at @IntrepidMuseum.

“I flew around the Statue of Liberty and got a bunch of great pictures. Most people have to pay to get flown around and I was able to do it for free. I saw some museums, the 9/11 memorial and even caught a Yankees game. So, I guess you could say Fleet Week has treated me well!”
