Dear Phoebe, I read your Observer piece this morning on the reported “exodus” from Girlguiding - and I was genuinely shocked. Not because you presented a different perspective to my recent Telegraph reporting on the problems within Girlguiding. That’s part of journalism. But because you chose to include the case of a six-year-old little boy who reportedly tried to cut off his own penis - after being told he couldn't be part of Rainbows (the section of Girlguiding for 5–7 year olds). Presenting it as evidence of a problem with Girlguiding’s admissions policy. It is not. It is a deeply distressing account involving a very young child - and, on any view, a serious welfare concern. Framing it otherwise is a profound failure of editorial judgement. You also refer to this male child throughout using female pronouns, including the phrase “her penis”. I appreciate this may reflect current editorial conventions. But it sits uneasily with the basic duty of a journalist to report clearly and accurately on material facts. I was already aware of this case through my own reporting for the Sunday Telegraph. I made a conscious decision not to include it at this stage - both because a minor is involved and because of the ethical considerations that arise when reporting on such sensitive situations. Those considerations are not optional. You will know, as I do, that journalism is not simply about presenting competing narratives. It is about establishing facts clearly, handling vulnerable subjects with care and exercising judgement about what should - and should not - be used to advance an argument. I trained as a journalist in the early 2000s - a good 20 years earlier than you did - but to my knowledge nothing has changed. Good journalism should bring clarity. It should not muddy the facts - in order to promote an ideological position. In this context, that means being clear about sex - a material fact that is both legally and practically relevant. I appreciate you may be under pressure from colleagues or editors to frame stories in a particular way - or to use she/her pronouns, or the phrase “her penis”. But that doesn’t make it right. Earlier this week, the Manchester Evening News reported a violent murder as being committed by a woman - one of many examples of inaccurate reporting around sex and gender. In this case, even the Crown Prosecution Service - the public body responsible for prosecuting criminal cases in England and Wales - also reported the crime inaccurately. So that’s two professions we should be able to trust to tell the truth - providing inaccurate information. Crime statistics matter. Without accurate data on who is committing serious violence, we cannot properly understand it - let alone prevent it. I considered raising this privately, or writing to your editor. But this issue is too important to be brushed aside with a “thank you for your feedback”. I’m happy to discuss it with you privately, or to support a conversation with your editor if that would be helpful. But I hope this gives you - and your colleagues - serious pause for thought. Because it is very much needed. Janet

I am very surprised that European women don't want to marry/ have anything to with culturally distant, unintelligent, uneducated, illiterate, unattractive, poor men from countries who have no achievements, are profoundly uncivilised, clannish, violent and dysfunctional and whose main reputation consists of mass violence and rape of women, rape of underage boys (bacha bazi) Islamic terrorism, Islamic dictatorship, inbreeding and clannish tribal conflict.

Male refugees from Afghanistan and Syria in Germany show a keen interest in forming relationships with local women, but the local women show little interest in forming relationships with them. Germany, in particular, received over 1,4 million refugees between 2014 and 2016, predominantly from Muslim-majority countries such as Syria and Afghanistan. The majority of these arrivals consisted of young, single men within prime marriageable age brackets. This study examines partnership preferences of male refugees from Afghanistan and Syria who arrived in Germany between 2014 and 2016 and female residents of similar age. Overall, our results indicate a high level of openness among male refugees towards partnering with female members of the resident population, but a comparatively low level of openness among the latter towards partnering with recently arrived male refugees. This implies a substantial incongruence in partnership preferences among the two groups. Regarding the educational level of a potential partner, we found that all respondents prefer highly educated partners over those with lower levels of education. This suggests that, for refugees, securing a highly educated partner might serve as a means of upward social mobility and integration into higher-status networks in the host society. Furthermore, it is possible that highly educated women, due to their greater exposure to diverse social environments and potentially less discriminatory attitudes, are perceived as more open to intergroup partnerships, making them a more attractive choice for refugees seeking acceptance and social integration. On the other hand, the reluctance of resident women to accept partnerships with refugees is largely explained by their rejection of the ‘imported’ religious Islam. It is possible that resident women perceive the religious practices of newly arrived refugees as different from their own, reinforcing a social distance that limits intergroup partnerships. Moreover, this reluctance might not only reflect religious differences but also concerns about gender norms or perceived lifestyle incompatibilities.

Konstantin Kisin, who grew up in the Soviet Union, said something that stopped me cold. While the West teaches its children to be critical of — and often ashamed of — their own country, places like China and Russia are raising theirs to be strong, confident, and focused on science and excellence. Not equity initiatives. He put it bluntly: we’re in a real battle of civilizations. And if we keep weakening our own foundations from within, how exactly do we expect to compete? His line about bridges hit especially hard: “A bridge doesn’t work very well if it’s built on diversity instead of math.” It’s a sobering reminder from someone who’s seen ideological self-sabotage up close. What do you make of this take — is teaching national self-doubt a luxury the West can afford, or a strategic vulnerability in a competitive world?

Be honest. How many times have you seen an actual full-on burqa on a British woman? It is extraordinary how much political energy is expended on an issue whose real-world impact would, to a first approximation, be zero.

Last year, there were 78k reported rapes, just in England and Wales. FGM alone costs £2bn a year, not to mention cousin marriage, acid attacks, knife crime and having to monitor 48k suspected Islamic terrorists. There are over 30k Cornish people on the emergency housing waiting list, yet Cornwall Council have homed over 200 Afghanistani migrants. My child's school has emailed me to say children and parents need to be vigilant on the way to and from school due to reports of children being approached. A woman in my little cornish town was raoed so badly by an illegal migrant, she needed two internal operations afterwards. So, with respect, go fk yourself. And when you've finished furiously mastubating to the sound of your own virtuous voice, go fk yourself again.

The Daily Mail has spoken to three members of Mr Polanski’s extended family – none of whom now talk to him. ‘He’s currently the leader of the future Islamic party of Britain, that’s what the Green Party is fast becoming,’ said one. ‘And there would be no place for Jews in an Islamic state of Britain.’ But family members have described their shock at how the former actor and hypnotist has become leader of a party expressing hatred for Israel. ‘If the Zionism-is-racism motion is passed it will make the Greens the most anti-Semitic party in British history since Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists,’ said a second relation. ‘The idea of it is one of the most sickening things I’ve heard in a long time.’ A third family member said: ‘The mad thing is that he’s gay, he’s Jewish but he’s cosying up to people whose ideology is the complete antithesis of everything that he’s supposed to stand for. It’s like he’s a chicken, telling us to vote for KFC.’ dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…

Is it right to ban trans women from the Olympics? Transgender women will be banned from competing in female events at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and beyond. They says this is to protect ‘fairness and safety’. What do you think of this?

@Number10cat @RupertLowe10 I 'advised' my daughter to look for an apprenticeship rather than Uni. They are few and far between and there was precisely ONE in her area of interest in the entire UK. These things are not as simple as you would like to believe Larry

Young British men and women get sucked into going to university for some pointless degree, saddled with insane levels of debt then spend years treading water paying off the mad amount of interest the state imposes on them. Many never once using the ‘skills’ they get ‘taught’ at university… All whilst thousands and thousands of foreign students defraud the student loans system, remain in Britain illegally and go on to claim benefits. My investigation through official parliamentary questioning uncovered that the number of Romanians claiming student loans has soared from 25,046 in 2019 to 78,325 in 2023. Why are these foreigners eligible to access our system? Cancel it. The entire system is bent. British youngsters spend thousands and thousands of pounds spent on these university courses. For what? A handful of teaching hours a week? It’s a scam. No other word for it. A total scam. They then go on to get a job, make a bit of money and try to find their way in the world. What do they get? Outrageous interest charges. It’s so extreme, many will never pay it off. It’s not repaying anything. It’s a tax, through ridiculously unfair rates. I entirely disagree with those my age who say how easy the youngsters have it - totally wrong. The system is designed to crush young aspiration - the idea of owning a home, raising a family, living in a pleasant area? For many in their 20s, it will simply not happen - through no fault of their own. Certainly not a reasonable timetable. Young British men and women do not have it easy. In fact, building a life in Britain has not been this challenging in many decades. The entire system needs a reset - giving those aspirational, dedicated, hardworking men and women the same opportunities that we had. The attitude must shift in school towards apprenticeships, training, investment. Actual skills, with real world application. And those who have already been through the scam shouldn’t be financially punished for the rest of their lives because of piss-poor political decisions. Reforming anything is not enough for these youngsters. The establishment needs to be smashed up, the machinery is all just so very rotten - that wheel must break. There is now a political party that backs those young Brits. That will scrap interest on their student loans, reward their hard work through slashed taxes and generally get the parasitic state out of their way. That party is Restore Britain. A party that will put the needs of young British men and women right at the top of the agenda. They’re the future and we will do whatever we can to support them.

This week, both Portugal and India have removed gender self-identification from their countries' laws, introduced in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Portugal says it is to safeguard women and children, India says it's because self-ID was being "misused"
