In case you're skeptical that anti-AI backlash will become a central issue in the next election cycle: Sanders just introduced a bill to halt all new data center construction and require the federal government to "review and approve .. [ai products] products" before release

@pmarca @newcurrency I struggle to get through entire books nowadays, even though I was a voracious reader my whole life up until the last few years. It just seems like a worse use of time now and too slow, too passive, etc.

My information consumption is now 1/4 X, 1/4 podcast interviews of the smartest practitioners, 1/4 talking to the leading AI models, and 1/4 reading old books. The opportunity cost of anything else is far too high, and rising daily.

This friend of mine has been dealing with painful shoulder impingement as a punishment for doing too many clean/pres w/o the diversification of lateral moves. Full body exercise is not full body exercise. 1) What is the best therapy? 2) Is rucking good or bad for it?

@buccocapital No, AI commoditizes software and maybe some services businesses - asset light franchises will crush capital intensive businesses over the long run on ROE

For 50 yrs we treated the supremacy of asset-light businesses as a permanent economic law But if AI commoditizes asset-light businesses, we’d just be reverting to the historical mean where value accrued to atoms, infrastructure, energy It would be a 50 year blip. An anomaly

my sense is there’s a very coherent pro-uk argument across these lines; the issues that they’re facing are obviously much more immediate than the US, but likely smaller. you could chose to walk through the smaller gate, knowing it’s unpleasant, rather than wait for our large one

it seems to hold that if there is a great societal reorganization coming, and that’ll it’ll be violent and unpleasant, your best move is to move as close to the frontier of the smallest flashpoint as possible. you’d rather be the first through the gate than the last.
