@pmarca @newcurrency I struggle to get through entire books nowadays, even though I was a voracious reader my whole life up until the last few years. It just seems like a worse use of time now and too slow, too passive, etc.

My information consumption is now 1/4 X, 1/4 podcast interviews of the smartest practitioners, 1/4 talking to the leading AI models, and 1/4 reading old books. The opportunity cost of anything else is far too high, and rising daily.

my sense is there’s a very coherent pro-uk argument across these lines; the issues that they’re facing are obviously much more immediate than the US, but likely smaller. you could chose to walk through the smaller gate, knowing it’s unpleasant, rather than wait for our large one

it seems to hold that if there is a great societal reorganization coming, and that’ll it’ll be violent and unpleasant, your best move is to move as close to the frontier of the smallest flashpoint as possible. you’d rather be the first through the gate than the last.
