This morning in Doha, President Kagame met with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani @TamimBinHamad to convey his condolences on the passing of his beloved father, His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and to express his solidarity with the people of Qatar during this time of mourning.

My deepest condolences to my brother, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, his family and the people of Qatar on the passing of His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani will be remembered as a visionary leader who transformed Qatar into the remarkable nation it is today. His legacy of service to his people and commitment to friendship and cooperation among nations will endure for generations. At this difficult time, the people of Rwanda and I stand with His Highness Sheikh @TamimBinHamad and our Qatari brothers and sisters.

DRC conflict is crazy. Burundi president has troops fighting for Tshisekedi and at the same time a mediator. How is one a mediator who also fights for a party to the mediation? Americans mediating between Rwanda- DRC and at the same time issuing sanctions. How does a mediator issue sanctions? Has the word mediation changed meaning?

On the sidelines of the #AIforGood Global Summit 2026, President Kagame met with President @AlarKaris of Estonia. The two leaders discussed ways forward to strengthen bilateral relations, in key areas of mutual interest including digital innovation and e-governance.

President Kagame is in Geneva where will deliver a keynote address at the opening of the @AIforGood Global Summit 2026, and officially launch the AI for Good Global Commission, along with co-chair Marc @Benioff, CEO and Co-Founder of Salesforce, vice-chair Doreen Bogdan-Martin, @ITUSecGen, President @HallaTomas of Iceland and President @AlarKaris of Estonia. The Summit, co-convened by @ITU and Switzerland, is being held under the theme, “Unlocking AI’s potential to serve humanity.”

As part of his official visit to #Israel, Rwanda's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, @onduhungirehe, visited @SaveChildsHeart and Netafim—two institutions that embody Israel's commitment to innovation and global partnership. At Save a Child's Heart, he witnessed how life-saving pediatric cardiac care is transforming the lives of children from around the world while strengthening healthcare capacity through medical training. At Netafim, discussions highlighted Israel's pioneering drip irrigation technology and its contribution to sustainable agriculture, including the ongoing Gabiro irrigation project in Rwanda's Eastern Province. 🔴 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹 𝗞𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗲𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗳𝗳 à 𝗹𝗮 𝘁ê𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗲 𝗹𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿 𝗹’𝗜𝗔 𝗱𝗲 𝗹’𝗢𝗡𝗨 L’ONU, à travers l’Union internationale des télécommunications (UIT), vient de lancer une Commission mondiale sur l’intelligence artificielle pour le bien commun. Cette initiative vise à renforcer la confiance dans l’IA, à élargir son accès et à accélérer son impact positif sur les grands défis mondiaux tels que la santé, l’éducation, le climat et la réduction des inégalités. La commission a été officiellement présentée début juillet 2026 à Genève, lors du sommet AI for Good. Le président rwandais @PaulKagame a été choisi comme coprésident de cette commission, aux côtés de Marc Benioff, PDG de Salesforce. Cette nomination illustre la volonté d’intégrer la voix du Sud global dans la gouvernance mondiale de l’IA. Le Rwanda, pionnier en Afrique avec une politique nationale sur l’IA adoptée en 2023 et l’organisation du premier sommet africain sur l’IA en 2025, apparaît ainsi comme un acteur clé dans la réflexion internationale sur l’usage responsable des technologies émergentes. La commission, qui tiendra sa première réunion officielle du 7 au 10 juillet 2026 à Genève, n’a pas de pouvoir contraignant mais émettra des recommandations et des engagements volontaires. Elle se concentrera sur la sécurité de l’IA, la réduction de la fracture numérique (près de 2,2 milliards de personnes restent hors ligne) et la coopération internationale. Le rôle de Kagame souligne l’importance croissante de l’Afrique dans les débats sur l’avenir de l’intelligence artificielle et son potentiel à transformer les sociétés.
