Staff Sergeant Michael Ollis isn’t just our hometown hero on Staten Island, he’s an #American hero. On March 28, 2013, while fighting for our nation in Afghanistan, he was killed while shielding an allied Polish officer from a suicide bomber. On March 2, 2026, SS Ollis was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor by @realDonaldTrump. I was privileged to introduce a resolution in the #Assembly yesterday in his honor.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day ☘️ Staten Island! While today we usually talk about the luck of the #Irish, many New Yorkers are feeling anything but lucky as the Mayor proposes new tax increases. We will continue fighting to protect Staten Island’s middle-class families and push back against policies that make life less affordable. #StPatricksDay ☘️

Judges should interpret the law—not lobby for legislation or tell voters who to vote against. Today we filed a complaint regarding the conduct of New York’s Chief Judge to ensure the integrity and impartiality of our judicial system. Last week, the Chief Judge told the public to vote against judges who sentence violent offenders to long prison sentences.

There are real threats against our homeland & NYC remains a top target. @NYCMayor must fully staff & fund our NYPD & Congress must reopen @DHSgov. On Thursday, only 4 Democrats joined @HouseGOP to fund the agency tasked with counterterrorism. This is not a game! cc: @SenSchumer

We warned them years ago but they didn’t listen. Now, we’re introducing the LOWER Plan: up to $400 rebate for utility payers and additional surplus funds from energy surcharges back to you in the form of credits. New Yorkers deserve lower costs, stronger reliability, and an energy policy that puts families first.

It’s a bittersweet day for Staten Island. Today, President Trump awarded the Medal of Honor to Staff Sergeant Michael Ollis, who was killed in action in Afghanistan while saving the lives of others. God bless Staff Sgt. Ollis, and God bless America.

The NY-11 redistricting lawsuit was a political power grab that was decided on the state level by a Hochul-appointed hack. Thank you to United States Supreme Court for making the correct decision and granting a stay for the upcoming election.

It was an honor to be present at the White House today as @POTUS Donald Trump bestowed the Medal of Honor — our nation’s highest military distinction — posthumously upon Staten Island’s own U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Michael Ollis. The ceremony was bittersweet as our community is very grateful to and proud of Michael, but also saddened that his life was taken from him at such a young age. We congratulate his parents, Bob and Linda, and his entire family who worked tirelessly to ensure his sacrifice received the recognition it deserves. His valor and devotion to his fellow soldiers reflect the very best of our nation. He has made Staten Island very proud and he will never be forgotten.

.@POTUS honors Afghanistan war hero Staff Sergeant Michael Ollis, who put himself between an insurgent and a wounded Coalition Forces Officer, ultimately absorbing the blast from the insurgent's suicide vest. "Staff Sergeant Ollis was killed just weeks before his 25th birthday, and nobody was any more brave than that."

🚨 𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐒: 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐘𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐈𝐍 While our borough is still dealing with unsafe roads, inadequate snow removal and lingering storm impacts, the Mayor’s decision to reopen schools tomorrow is both irresponsible and reckless. Staten Island’s snow removal response was not adequate. The city waited too long to begin plowing, secondary and residential streets were not treated proactively, and far too many neighborhoods remain uncleared. Families should not still be digging out while the administration pushes forward as if conditions are normal. The City failed to properly prepare and respond to the storm—and now it is compounding that failure by forcing schools to reopen before Staten Island is fully safe and accessible. Families across Staten Island are still navigating hazardous conditions. Many neighborhood streets remain uncleared, transportation routes are unreliable and parents are being forced to make last-minute decisions about how to safely get their children to school. Reopening schools under these circumstances shows a clear disconnect from the realities on the ground. The safety of our students, teachers and school staff must come first—and right now, the city has not demonstrated that conditions are safe. Staten Island deserves better. I strongly urge the administration to reconsider this reckless decision and ensure that schools reopen only when our streets are fully cleared and our communities are truly prepared.
