@peterawolf Visited 25 years ago and it was 80% astrolabes with the rest being gaudy displays aimed at kids. My first visit as a kid (during Halley’s Comet) felt so inspiring and serious

The Adler being so picturesque makes it that much sadder for being our most disappointing/underwhelming public museum.

An Indianapolis woman led police on a miles-long pursuit that ended in a multi-vehicle crash on I-65 in Greenwood this morning. The crash injured 6 people, including a woman who is in critical condition. The driver, Nicole Bryant, has been arrested and booked into jail.

Joe-Pye weed: for rusty patched bumble bees 4. Boneset: for rusty patched bumble bees 5. Mountain mint: for rusty patched bumble bees 6. Blazing star: for rusty patched bumble bees, monarchs, Dakota skippers 7. Milkweed: for monarchs, rusty patched bumble bees 8. Native sunflowers: monarchs, bumble bees, native bees Fall is when too many gardens go quiet. But bees, butterflies, moths, and migrating monarchs are still out there looking for food in September. If your garden stops blooming in August, you’re closing the diner before the dinner rush.

Need a fence? What you actually need is a dead hedge. A dead hedge is exactly what it sounds like: branches, logs, and woody cuttings stacked between upright stakes to form a natural fence. It looks rustic, it costs nothing, and unlike a fence, it's full of insects and wildlife. Birds nest in it, hedgehogs shelter in it, beetles, bees, and spiders colonize the rotting wood. As it breaks down it feeds the soil and you just keep adding to it. Medieval farmers used dead hedges for centuries. We replaced them with vinyl fencing that doesn't break down or help wildlife. Time to go back.
