I’m Taiwanese and I don’t care if you don’t care. But I can help you sound better informed on this topic the next time you’re being “told” things.
Taiwan knows it needs to defend itself and that’s why it continues to increase the amount of money it spends buying (as in paying with money) defense weapons from the U.S. so it can protect the 23 million people in Taiwan, many of whom make all the little high tech chips that 90% of the world runs on.
A little country no one cares about that spends billions on weapons that are made in America by Americans should be something you’re cool with right? America gets money and Taiwan gets to protect itself.
But even trying to buy the weapons it needs from the U.S. to defend itself creates drama because it triggers China into doing and saying dumb shit everyone is tired of but still needs to pay attention to.
So that’s been the issue. Not whether you care enough.
