A certain group who says the N-word out in public or at a gas station or in the streets, just being belligerent and disorderly. A certain group says it a lot in rap music & to pretty much anyone in a violent rage. But oh, convict the white girl

@citrinowicz @JavierBlas You’re hinting at the larger issue. Iran doesn’t have to care about what its people think because it doesn’t have real elections. America does. Can any democracy ever hold out against an authoritarian regime? Or can you only fight authoritarianism with authoritarianism?

Gut feelings and threats won't solve this. After nearly six months of conflict with Iran in one form or another, the Trump administration still appears to underestimate the nature of the regime it is confronting. U.S. policy should begin with a basic working assumption: Iran is unlikely to capitulate simply because military pressure increases. The key question is what Washington expects to achieve. Does it believe Tehran will abandon its missile program, give up its right to enrich uranium, or relinquish what it sees as its strategic position in the Strait of Hormuz? There is little evidence to suggest the regime is prepared to make concessions on issues it considers fundamental to the Islamic Revolution. On the contrary, Tehran appears convinced that, over time, Washington's political resolve will weaken first. If that is the underlying assumption behind the current strategy, disappointment is almost inevitable. Iran is not going to plead for an agreement or surrender its core strategic assets. Instead, the likely consequences are continued upward pressure on global oil prices and growing frustration in Washington as expectations collide with reality. Retaliation is not a strategy, and a bombing campaign without a clearly defined political objective is unlikely to produce the desired outcome. If the goal is to force Iran back to the negotiating table in a significantly weaker position, that objective appears increasingly unrealistic. Policymakers should be clear-eyed about the costs. A strategy centered on coercing Iran into submission risks imposing substantial economic and strategic costs on the United States and its allies without achieving its intended political objectives. Iran is far from invulnerable. It has significant military, economic, and social vulnerabilities that can be exploited. But one reality remains unavoidable: confronting Iran requires time, sustained political commitment, a willingness to absorb casualties, major economic costs, and enormous military resources. As long as the administration is unwilling to bear those costs, extending the current campaign, even if it produces tactical successes, is unlikely to bring Iran to the point of strategic defeat. If anything, a prolonged campaign without the resources or political will necessary to achieve decisive results risks strengthening Tehran's belief that it can simply outlast Washington. #iran

Trump is "fed up," and in "revenge mode." While he was excited to sign the MOU and end the conflict, he now has little confidence in diplomacy. "He has told people that he thinks he can break the Iranians’ will through an aggressive bombing campaign." #comments_sector" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">wsj.com/politics/polic…

"Trump administration's cuts to SNAP benefits" - @SaveALot You mean cracking down on fraud and making sure benefits actually go to people who legitimately need them is not indiscriminate “cuts.”
Goofies Of Chicago@Chicago_Goofies

Seven Save A Lot grocery stores in Chicago are closing their doors on Saturday, citing financial difficulties. The company says the stores were severely impacted following the Trump administration’s cuts to SNAP benefits, which it says contributed to the closures.

I know this isn’t my regularly schedule programming but I have something to get off my chest. Yesterday in downtown Toronto I witnessed a black man brutally assault an elderly white man who was in a wheelchair. Punched him in the head, strangled him, threw him from his wheelchair, and kicked him repeatedly. It was so brutal that I thought he was going to kill him. Despite there being a mess of people around, only me and another young woman stopped. I immediately called 911 while she (brave as hell) tried and failed to intervene on the elderly man’s behalf. The police were quick to arrive, but just before they did, one of the black guy’s friends put the elderly man back in his wheelchair and dragged him around the corner. VERY FUCKING NAIVELY, I thought he was just trying to move the victim away from the assailant. When the cops showed up, they immediately arrested the perpetrator and put him in the back of the cruiser. While waiting to speak to the officers (as 911 had told me to do), I was approached by the same guy who had dragged the elderly man away. He tried to intimidate me into not talking to the police. “Walk away. Don’t say anything. Just go. If you’re smart, you won’t talk.” I wasn’t going to buckle to that, and of course I agreed to give a statement to police anyway. While I spoke to one officer, the other went around the corner with ambulance personnel to try and find the elderly man. I then learned he was not willing to give his own statement or press charges. It dawned on me that he had likely been intimidated into silence by the assailant’s friend. And that when that friend dragged him away, it was to do just that. Scare him into not cooperating. Just like he had tried with me. That friend stuck around while I was talking to police. It got to the point where it was so clear he was trying to mug me out that the officer speaking to me had to stop and confront him. After dealing with him, the officer told me that without the victim’s cooperation, there was very little they were going to be able to do. He was visibly upset by this. He chose not to proceed with getting my formal statement. Some of you who watch my page know that I was assaulted by a random schizophrenic earlier this year. That was traumatic. But this was somehow worse, because at least in my own incident I cooperated and am seeing it through to make sure this guy stays behind bars for as long as possible. In this case, because the victim was intimidated into silence, there is no factor I can control to help get this guy off the streets. He is back out right now, as far as I know. He was never even taken in. I waited to make this post to see if police would call me to say anything different, as they don’t always need the victim’s cooperation to proceed. But nada. Anyway, TLDR: If someone finds my body in a ditch at some point it was probably related to this. Avenge me!

Coming from the guy who did his best Weekend at Bernie (Sanders) impersonation while visiting a Moscow grocery store, this is hilarious.
Tucker Carlson@TuckerCarlson

Obviously this little freak could go volunteer to fight the war himself, but of course he won’t. He’s got no interest in making any kind of personal sacrifice. None of them do. Israel’s finance minister bragged the other day that having American soldiers fight Netanyahu’s wars “is the best for us.” Smotrich doesn’t want to die for Israel. Neither does Ben Shapiro. Dying for Israel is your job. You’ve got to wonder how people like this — liars without honor, wisdom or loyalty to the United States — wound up in positions of such profound influence throughout our society. How did Mark Levin get the president’s cell phone number? Why is Adm. Brad Cooper, the man in charge of the Iran war, secretly taking strategic advice from crazed Israel shill Mark Dubowitz? It’s all so nuts, and ultimately suicidal. Future generations will struggle to understand it. In the meantime, Trump will likely obey Ben Shapiro, as he has consistently for months. We can predict the results, because every neocon “victory” is identical: huge numbers of innocent people killed, disproportionately Christians, economic destruction, famine, mass migration and deepening authoritarianism at home. That’s what they’re demanding because that’s what they want. What can we do to stop it? Apparently not much. But we can remember what happened and why, so that history records the truth. Otherwise, when the war ends in disaster, as it inevitably will, Ben Shapiro will be able to blame you for it.

What could be more poisonous and insidious than referring to the wish to protect young girls in a locker room or sporting field from the unwanted intrusion of boys and men as a "phobia"?
