@Huntindog1 @Because__I_Can @tweet4Anna_NAFO Did you just smoke your socks? The UN do not fund defense anywhere. Denmark are a little bit funded by Americans though, having a good income selling Wegovy/Ozempic to obese people.
English

@cspan @SecRubio And if your parents came to this country, saying they were fleeing a dictatorship, and wanted their baby to be a citizen of a free country, and if it turns out you were here to participate in a group setting up a dictatorship in the US, then your citizenship should be revoked.
English

.@SecRubio on detained Turkish student: "We revoked her visa...We gave you a visa to come and study and get a degree not to become a social activist that tears up our university campuses. If we've given you a visa and then you decide to do that we're going to take it away.

@FrontburnerE @tribelaw Because they’ve been systematically dismantling all the safeguards for the last 8 years.

I fell in love with Carl Dean when I was 18 years old. We have spent 60 precious and meaningful years together. Like all great love stories, they never end. They live on in memory and song. He will always be the star of my life story, and I dedicate this song to him.

@leftcoastbabe @KareemRifai He really should only read scripted speeches vetted by someone who really finished high school.
English

@KareemRifai Kids, this is what happens when you don't read history books.
English

@samraskinz He’s a very talented politician and NYC will be lucky to have him for mayor. As for the character test, other politicians are so much worse. With each passing year, his failings look more trivial, almost quaint.
English

@XxJulieAnnx @DollyParton Why not consider whether Dolly, who you trusted for all those years, might be right? Have you adored Putin all your life? Or did someone who razzle-dazzled you 8 or 10 years ago change your mind about Russia? You can follow Trump without believing him about everything.
English

Dolly. I’ve been a fan of yours my whole life. Between your music, your movies & your theme park.. I’ve adored you.
You chose to defend Dictator Zelensky after all these years of staying out of politics. You chose a dictator over your own country.
To say I’m disappointed doesn’t come close. Oh well. I guess thank you for making me realize not one of you celebs can be trusted. Not even Dolly.

Don't judge me by the cover cause I'm a real good book 💖 Here’s to Backwoods Barbie turning 17 this week! dolly.lnk.to/BackwoodsBarbie

@theawfulMrD @Emma_Turner75 @HelenProulx2 This is an introduction to geography, so it’s about natural and human-made features of a place.
English

@GentleAllison @Emma_Turner75 @HelenProulx2 That's why in our Science modules, we refer to Natural and Processed.
It still raises questions when you flash up a pic of a dyed, woollen jumper, however.
English

@RedPilledNurse - 80. There are a few worse I’m reserving the score of - 81 to - 100 for.
English

@tomant3000 @Baddiel Zelenskyy’s demand was for one thing, security assurances. Trump wouldn’t give them. So the deal was, US gets minerals, calls it repayment of past military aid, and Russia invades again anyway. Why would Zelenskyy sign that?

@JamesAFurey Student centred learning does not mean they discover knowledge on their own. It means that teachers create learning activities that require students to use a certain set of knowledge, abilities and skills. When students can’t complete a step independently, the teacher teaches.
English

@Mann69Joe @JamesAFurey You don’t know what curriculum looks like now. Teaching to a script and to slides is required of many teachers. Suggesting this is done out of laziness implies teachers are making a choice. [Narrator voice:] They have. No such choice.
English

@JamesAFurey How much of this antipathy could simply be laziness on behalf of teachers who would rather put a screen in front of the faces of students?
English

The general antipathy toward direct instruction in education isn’t merely a preference for “student-centered learning.”
It’s an ideological commitment to the idea that *authority itself* is oppressive, and it results in a system that refuses to teach and then feigns surprise as to why students don’t learn.
English

@Triple_31 @JamesAFurey Are you seriously suggesting that a teacher needs more expertise to read aloud a scripted lesson than to plan an engaging learning activity that requires students to use knowledge and abilities provided in a flexible curriculum?
English

@JamesAFurey I would postulate those hard core advocates are deficient in their subject knowledge, hiding behind that particular ideology. In short, many don’t have the requisite knowledge to be able to lecture and teach.
English

@Philomedia @JamesAFurey And the teachers in “control of classrooms” are being controlled by absent bureaucrats, lawmakers & power elites. It’s about social control through the education system. Children unengaged, unmotivated, disliking “learning” and “reading.” Little agency for students or teachers.
English

@JamesAFurey In part. The Texas TEI is all about performative teacher control of classrooms. Even "small group," etc. is very structured.
Top-down, authority laden system. Actually reduces agency. Teachers must enforce constantly. Kids don't practice much independently or self regulate.
English

@DrTozzo I don’t hear enough about the tension between differentiation and constant explicit teaching.
English

“Research clearly shows, there is no other approach that can have the impact of differentiation.”
To me, differentiation is a poorly defined fad that can’t fizzle out soon enough.
Houghton Mifflin is one of the top three education publishers in the United States.
When I came across this page, I was more than surprised. Making these sort of claims has to be very loosely supported by something. I’m very interested to find out what. I’ll have a look later.

@Karl_Leahy @whispershush @cardon_brian Person on mike saying “this little girl,” referring to a full grown doctor!
English

@whispershush @cardon_brian No, you can definitely see a woman being manhandled by persons who refuses to identify themselves. You can hear a person on mike saying this is what you deserve if you speak out of turn.
What the fuck is wrong with you. Stop defending the indefensible. Fascism. This is FASCISM
English

@sirDukeDevin They were here, they tried to warn us. The fascists were here, putting Project 2025 out for all to see but tldr, 51% of the 64% who turned out to vote decided they wanted fascism. And now we’re bleating Where are the dems? Why aren’t they saving us from the democratic process?
English

@collinste11 @Eduventuring04 Allington cited research showing that strong readers often do worst on nonsense word tests because they are looking for a close match to an actual word. He also cited evidence that reading text promotes fluency better than practicing words. I’ll see if I can find it later.
English

@Eduventuring04 I some times find when I am past nonsense words and CVC are read w automaticity they have a harder time w nonsense words cuz they are trying to make meaning of the words they are reading. I do understand them for the purposes of open/closed syllables though.
