I have received unverified info that Adeena Kohn doesn’t want the representation of FlatbushGirl, but doesn’t have the energy to deal with two issues at once. Just wants the Gett: no one waiting on the sidelines. This is an active civil case; Beis Din awards Gett once closed.

I have just been made aware that a domestic abuser, Raphi Stein, is a follower of mine on social media. Raphi has refused to give his wife Adeena a Gett (Jewish bill of divorce), thereby preventing her from remarrying. Raphi can do so at any moment and is choosing to hold his wife captive instead. In accordance with Jewish Law, Raphi needs to be totally ostracized from our community. Don't speak to him, don't allow him into your Synagogue or school, refuse to sell anything to him. Those who abuse women and children have no role in Jewish life. Raphi if you're reading this: go fuck yourself.

@HalachicPrenup @RabbiApproves Unfortunately, some countries, like England, have ruled that prenups are illegal (Rabbi Sacks said/did nothing when it was being debated within the government). But, yeah, there is no good reason to withhold a get as a final act of dominance.

PSA: Any man that refuses to give his wife a get without a reasonable explanation is in the wrong. Any wife that takes custody of the kids away from her husband without a reasonable explanation is in the wrong. Unless you're privy to the specific details of a divorce case to discern if it's the former or the latter, you should withhold your opinion on the matter.

I'm sure everyone saw the red flags in them and kept quiet because you don't just wake up one day and start readjusting halacha and weaponizing it to control women.

My Orthodox Jewish parents divorced when I was 5 years old. My father gave my mother her gett immediately, zero hesitation. Custody and child support were negotiated in the regular court system. A gett is not a bargaining chip.

@yechielroth Believe it or not, not all men are gett abusers. The rest of the world uses the secular court system. It works. There is so excuse for chaining a woman to a dead marriage for close to 5 years.
