Banned from keeping animals for seven years but can appeal after five years.” Callum Palmer, 19, from Bristol – callously threw a cat from a balcony by his tail for Snapchat likes. Palmer’s sickening attack on the male cat, named Apollo, was filmed during a drinking session and uploaded to Snapchat. The 11-second clip showed Palmer on the outdoor balcony of a flat in the Kingswood area of Bristol, where Apollo was sitting. He was filmed leaning down to stroke the friendly cat, who rolled onto his back to be petted. Palmer then crouched down and said “I love cats” – before grabbing the animal by his tail and flinging him over the balcony and into the air.”

Man. Cherie Deveaux’s derby win may be the best thing that’s happened in, or to, Horseracing in a long time. ALL of my social feeds are full of non racing people hyped up on the win. Unfortunately, the hype will not be sustained if the industry can’t figure out the aftercare/kill pen/sending US bred horses to jurisdictions with little to no oversight. I hope the attention doesn’t create more complacency- but invigorates those within the sport to continue cleaning it up and prioritizing welfare.

I sold Ocelli for 12k, yesterday he ran 3rd in the @KentuckyDerby & won 500k. And gues what? I'm celebrating. Because of what this means for everything we still have. Ocelli's brothers just became a lot more valuable. His mom Zalia is now a queen. The bloodline we've been building for years just got validated on the biggest stage in racing. One horse running 3rd at @ChurchillDowns does more for your breeding program than a decade of "he has potential" conversations ever could. But there's a bigger lesson here. Everyone passed on Ocelli because he had a "weird gait." Moved different. Didn't fit the template. Turns out that weird gait was elite. Top 3 in the world elite. The market constantly undervalues things that don't fit the mold. In horses. In real estate. In people. The ones who move different aren't always broken. Sometimes they're just built for something the rest of us can't see yet.
