Police at Wandegeya yesterday responded to an incident of office breaking and theft at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Makerere University, at the Postmortem Department building. Upon arrival, police deployed a sniffer dog to aid investigations. The canine, Boela, successfully picked up a scent from the scene and tracked it for approximately 900 metres to a nearby residential area. The dog subsequently led officers to a house occupied by two suspects, identified as Ochieng David and Wandwali Colline. A search of the premises led to the recovery of several suspected stolen items, including electrical wire cables and extensions, five CPUs, one Dell desktop computer, two office chairs, one printer, six black Dell projectors, a cupboard, a hard disk, gloves marked for Makerere University, a curtain frame, a projector screen, and one laptop. Preliminary findings indicate that one of the suspects, Ochieng David, is both a worker at the Makerere University farm and a student at the College of Veterinary Medicine. The suspects are currently in custody at Makerere University Police Station as investigations continue.

In traditional African societies, grieving was a deeply communal, participatory experience where the burden of loss was shared across the entire community to ensure the bereaved were never isolated. This process was governed by the philosophy of Ubuntu (I am because we are) where the death of one member was felt by all. What happened to us????

Proposal on cutting government expenditure (Parliament ): We have 146 districts in Uganda. Each district should have one (1) Member of parliament and this position should be for both genders. This would then scrap off the Woman MP position. 1 youth representative. 1 PWDs representative. 1 workers representative. 1 older persons representative. There’s no need for UPDF representative in parliament. This would reduce the number of MPs from 529 to 150 and that’s a difference of 379 MPs. If we assume that each MP earns 40 million shillings. 379x 40,000,000=15.16 billion shillings (per month) and in 5 years, you’ll have saved about a trillion shillings.( investment that in health, education or infrastructure) I would go ahead to suggest that an MP shouldn’t earn above 10 million shillings a month! @DenisDukeUG Networks are here to maximize profits. For as long as we leave everything to the private sector we'll keep being in a mess. Another example is getting govt loans through private banks which also have their own loans to sell. Where is the logic ?

Over the last couple of months, I’ve visited several different businesses that have completely abandoned using Momo and merchant services for payments because they claim it doesn’t benefit them financially. It’s one sided. And I agree. The platform until recently used to offer clients the convenience of making payments without being charged yet when the merchant decides to withdraw that money, he’s charged like the normal Mobile Money Fees. This made them change back to normal Mobile money and ask clients to add withdraw fees. I mean if we are to promote a cashless economy, we need to find a balance. Where we both benefit. A close friend who operates a Spa once told me they lost about 800k UGX in withdrawal fees alone. And that to me isn’t business. A whole 800k that would pay for a bill all gone to a one telecom. When I called one telecom they said they designed the product for merchant to merchant transactions and not withdraw as many prefer to do it. Unless things changed or change, we are still lagging behind other East African countries. When it comes to cashless transactions.
