These albums both serve specific purposes, and are a pair of fine examples of the power of music. There’s two amazing things about Blood on the Tracks, besides the music. One, it can rekindle the flames of pain so powerfully. Even if you’re in love, and it’s all flowers on the hillside blooming crazy, you can put this album on and go right back to the dark times. Why we as people want to do that, invite in the pain, is a question to be pondered. But this album will do that. Dylan said about BOTT something about finding it hard to understand people enjoying the pain of the album. Well, it’s because we’ve all been there, and it takes us right back. And we enjoy experiencing those emotions again. As strange as that might be. The second thing BOTT does so well is act as support through trying times. You can have a conversation with this record. You can put it on and it’s like Dylan is a pal, sharing his own tale of the dissolution of love. “Wait till I tell you what happened with me…” he says. And you listen to his stories and go “see!? This guy gets it!” That’s the amazing thing about the best Dylan songs. Aye, they are cryptic and mysterious, but he leaves enough breadcrumbs for us to follow, that you find yourself somewhere in the song and can relate to them. “This sounds like what’s happening with me” we say, as though the song was written just for us, even when it’s true meaning remains a riddle. What Blonde on Blonde does so incredibly is create a world separate from ours that you can step into and inhabit for a while. It’s self-contained. It simultaneously feels like nothing else and like it’s always been around. It’s a sound just born yet as old as the hills. It’s a very dream-like album, of course, nocturnal and hallucinatory. And this otherworldliness is a huge part of the feeling you’re entering the world of Blonde on Blonde. And like the best world building albums, it ends and there’s really nowhere to go after it. It doesn’t point in the direction of another record. It only pulls you back in. So, both albums you don’t just sit back and spin. Both are transportive experiences. Where would I rather go? Thankfully, it’s more often than not the world of Blonde on Blonde. But there’s also plenty of times I want, and sometimes need, Blood on the Tracks. But most days it’s Blonde on Blonde i turn to. So that’s my favourite.

Glad that Spain won the tournament. Iran were a joy to watch. Cape Verde were a joy to watch. Scotland were dire in every particular and do not deserve the support they get. The players of the tournament were Mbappe and Bellingham. Easily the best game of football throughout was England vs France for third place. England in that game were superb. Tuchel under utilised his squad and has to take responsibility for England going out in the semis.

The player accidentally bumped into the referee and received a yellow card. He went to complain. Then, right after, the referee bumped into him and gave him another yellow card, sending him off. The poor guy was incredulous.

@WingsScotland Every dive should be a booking. But the ref bottled it. I disagree with you on it being a dive, I think that the contract makes it a penalty, but the ref only has 2 options, is either a foul and a penalty or a dive and a booking for the dive. Anything else is clear incompetence

Thought that was a surefire penalty live and from the first couple of angles, but fair play to the ref, got it dead right.

May I remind folk that the 1978 #Scotland World Cup team contained a stellar lineup of proven talent & winners at the highest level of British & European football? There was every expectation beyond Scotland that it would progress confidently into later rounds—& it almost did

@alistairmagowan Agree with the sentiment, but consistency is the key. If teams know what to expect they can adjust accordingly. Issue here was the ref’s approach was an outlier compared to the norm.

A harsh truth but football needs more refereeing like we saw in Scotland’s defeat by Morocco. If games were allowed to flow, reverting back to a contact sport, players would dive less often, which is what we all want, right? The fact they do, is because they know it’s rewarded.

@western_british According to Royal Charter, it's Londonderry. According to the City Council, it's Derry City and Strabane. According to the Apprentice Boys, it's Derry. Meantime, officially, Ireland is not in the British Isles.

Let’s short circuit this,been here many times! What do u call the 2nd largest city in the western UK by its official name Londonderry or some other unofficial name? What do u use the original name British Isles or some other name? U’ll find ur answer with wisdom among this
