i'm not satoshi, but I was early in laser focus on the positive societal implications of cryptography, online privacy and electronic cash, hence my ~1992 onwards active interest in applied research on ecash, privacy tech on cypherpunks list which led to hashcash and other ideas.

But if you were going to wrongly finger somebody as Satoshi, Adam Back is an excellent choice.
He invented the "Hashcash Proof Of Work" that's at the center of Bitcoin, one of the more surprising things that make it work. The other important bits, like digital signatures, are also very important, but are boring and well-known, not a surprising innovation.

Hi. Professional C/C++ programmer here. The open-source code I can find written by Adam Back and Satoshi Nakamoto don't look remotely similar.
Back's code looks typical of academic Unix programmers who also hack their code to run on Windows.
Satoshi code was written by a professional Windows programmer who also wrote for Unix.
Stylistically, they look nothing alike. There's not enough time between 2005 when I can find the newest Adam Back and January 2009 when Satoshi published Bitcoin/0.1 to account for the change. Both are perfectly competent programmers, but stylistically, they are completely different.
The NYTimes tried to compare their English language in posts/emails. I'm compare their C/C++ language in their open-source code. The NYTimes merely points out they both use C++ as if that's another corroborating detail, when the actual code seems to disqualify Adam Back.

For those who don't know, Trek Movie is a Kurtzman shill propaganda site that was given a deal back with the JJ Abrams 2009 Trek. The whole purpose is to market for Kurtzman's group and this is a fearmongering to fans to try to get a deal for him as Paramount isn't renewing.

I never knew Dan, but I did chitter-chatter a bit with him on Facebook. His Hyperion books represent a significant monument on the science fiction landscape. I respected enormously the fact he broke with the Wokies after 9/11, and did not bend the knee.

@jondelarroz Respectfully, I disagree. Strange New Worlds has avoided the woke trap so far: the captain leads, officers act like officers, and episodes aren’t endless therapy sessions (looking at you, Discovery). That episode was intentionally comedic and worked even if it wasn’t my favorite.

@jondelarroz It's not as bad as Starfleet Academy. The Klingons are still war-like, but that episode involves a subspace anomaly(fracture) in which the quantum probability field is superimposed upon reality based upon as acoustic principles. It's an anomalous event. SNW is mildly woke.

Master of Orion and X-Com weren’t done in-house. They were done by Simtex and Mythos. MicroProse was “just” the publisher. They’re still great games of course.

If you grew up in the 80s and90s, chances are you played a lot of MicroProse games. MicroProse, founded in 1982 by Sid Meier, Bill Stealey, and Andy Hollis, revolutionized PC gaming with immersive simulations and strategy masterpieces. From humble beginnings with Hellcat Ace, it soared with flight sims like F-15 Strike Eagle, Gunship, and the submarine thriller Silent Service, blending realism and excitement. Meier’s genius shone in Pirates!, Railroad Tycoon, and the genre-defining Civilization, Colonization, and X-COM. Despite mergers with Spectrum HoloByte (1993) and Hasbro (1998), and Meier’s 1996 departure to Firaxis, its legacy endures. To me, MicroProse belongs in the hall of fame of legendary pre-2000 developers. I put them on the same level with Lucasfilm and Westwood Studios.
