.@JamesTalarico: The reason poverty exists in the wealthiest country on Earth is not because we can't feed the poor. It's because we can't satisfy the rich. Elon Musk is about to become the first trillionaire. He's about to make more money than every elementary school teacher in America combined. Do we really believe one man is worth more than every elementary school teacher? Why do we have a trillionaire when there are kids without enough to eat, cancer patients going bankrupt, and veterans sleeping on the street? I'm all for success, but this is not success. This is hoarding. What leads a person to accumulate more money than they could possibly spend in 100 lifetimes when there are people starving in this one? What we can do is tax trillionaires out of existence and use that money to guarantee food, healthcare, and housing for every single American.

@megbasham This has been my experience as an Elder in the PCA with the various seminaries that feed our pulpits. The explanation seems straightforward- most places of higher education are more woke than normal people. Seminaries are often run by people who are a product of that system.

It seems a fairly obvious that much of the faculty of even those allegedly conservative seminaries are more progressive and more woke than the ordinary Christian in the pew. This, in turn, often leads to the pastor in the pulpit being more progressive and more woke than the church member he is shepherding. Do you think this is true? What do you think are the causes of it if so? And what do we do about it?

Maybe. I'm not sure why people are so aggressive about this topic. I'm saying this was a convo I had with one of my oncologists who was discouraging me from attempting a particular trial for my cancer. If people don't want to believe him, fine. I don't know why people feel angry about it.

I just got off the phone with one of my surgical oncologists and we got to discussing various new therapies and the Covid vax came up. He made the point that we knew very well that we couldn't predict how some cells would pull in that vaccine. Yet our experts never told us that. And as my doc friend put it, "Now we know that there are some women who will never be able to have children because of the way that vaccine was absorbed into their immune system." He said if they had studied it longer first, they would have figured it out prior to mass distribution. And the medical bureaucrats at NIH knew this, but to them that was just the "cost of doing business." This was not an alternative therapy type guy telling me this but a mainstream, big-system oncologist (with an extensive background in research). They knew. But NIH threatened and cowed all of these medical professionals not to sound the alarm. Yet still, no one has been held accountable.

@GovBobFerguson Bob if you actually cared even a little bit for lower income Washingtonians you would cut their taxes. Passing an unconstitutional tax on millionaires won’t help lower income Washingtonians one bit.

Washington families with income in the bottom 20% pay a whopping 13.8% of their total income in taxes. Those with income in the top 1% pay only 4.1% of their income. That’s untenable. Let's pass a Millionaires’ Tax in 2026.

@AGOWA I actually was skeptical that there was any fraud in Washington State. Now that the AG has come out on the offensive I can only conclude there must be fraud.

Attorney General Nick Brown
My office has received outreach from members of the Somali community after reports of home-based daycare providers being harassed and accused of fraud with little to no fact-checking. We are in touch with the state Department of Children, Youth, and Families regarding the claims being pushed online and the harassment reported by daycare providers. Showing up on someone’s porch, threatening, or harassing them isn’t an investigation. Neither is filming minors who may be in the home. This is unsafe and potentially dangerous behavior. I encourage anyone experiencing threats or harassment to either contact local law enforcement or our office’s Hate Crimes & Bias Incident Hotline at 1-855-225-1010 or atg.wa.gov/report-hate. If you think fraud is happening, there are appropriate measures to report and investigate. Go to DCYF’s website to learn more. And where fraud is substantiated and verified by law enforcement and regulatory agencies, people should be held accountable.

@thehoffather Areas to dig: DCYF's $3-4B budget growth (esp. child care subsidies ~$582M state funds). 2024 audit questioned $473M in DCYF federal aid due to monitoring gaps. K County DCHS grants doubled to $1.8B—altered invoices & unverified expenses in youth programs. Echoes MN?

I met with Somali American community leaders today to discuss the deep damage inflicted by Donald Trump's harmful rhetoric and reckless deportations. Here in Washington state, we recognize that diversity is a strength.

@CarleenJohn1970 @TCSWashington @WashingtonSRC @waDCYF One area to start analyzing are the raw spending numbers. If spending increase is an outlier might indicate somewhere to dig into. Not conclusive at all but could help narrow in on where fraud may be occuring.

Approximately 17% of Washington State childcare providers are owned or operated by someone with a Somali-pattern name. I analyzed 6,915 active childcare providers listed on the DCYF findchildcarewa.org website. For each provider, I evaluated the Primary Contact name using an AI-based linguistic model that scores similarity to traditional Somali naming conventions on a 0–100 scale. Using a conservative threshold of 70+ (“highly likely”), the analysis shows that about 17% (1,170 providers) statewide are owned or operated by individuals whose names strongly align with Somali naming conventions. The results show a clear geographic concentration, with providers located primarily in Seattle and South King County, including Kent, Auburn, SeaTac, and Federal Way. This analysis takes @kristenmag’s reporting a step further. While provider language listings are self-reported and in some cases missing or removed. This approach examines ownership/operator patterns directly, independent of whether languages are disclosed in provider profiles.

If you think it’s OK to have a trillionaire in the same America where parents skip meals so kids don’t have to and folks have to choose between healthcare or rent—then we do not share the same values. An economic system with such obscene greed has lost its moral compass.

@DrNeilStone I’m fully vaccinated. The day after my Covid shot I developed an irregular heart beat that lasted 18 months. The last time I had a hepatitis vaccine my liver function was off for one month and was sick for a week. I’m not anti vaxx but find this very odd.
