@eric_nail @kangminlee Yea, the casting may have been “woke” but the movie itself is not. In 20 years newer generations watching probably won’t know elliot use be ellen and will only judge the performance on screen.

@kangminlee I’m legitimately confused. The movie really wasnt woke at all, in fact, it had a great thought provoking take on breaking societal standards for the sake of winning with Troy and the Trojan horse. I thought it was great other than casting page.

The success of The Odyssey will be Hollywood’s green light to go full throttle on wokeness Woke isn’t over. The right just enjoyed a brief taste of minor victories the past few years, then proceeded to devour itself with Egyptian plane conspiracies and pure retardation

I had a feeling The Odyssey was going to be bad… But I didn’t think it was gonna be THIS bad 💀 Christopher Nolan just RUINED what would’ve been a great story to tell with modern day technology and cinematography. Lame.

Toronto Tempo head coach Sandy Brondello has been suspended without pay for one game for an inappropriate comment she made regarding Angel Reese, the league announced. Brondello made the comment during Friday's game against Atlanta, yelling at the referees, "Angel, she's a protected species," for which she later apologized.

All the supporters of the movie are completely indoctrinated to support it. Anyone that knows the Greek version completely disagrees with you. It’s not about casting a black woman as Helen. That’s your simple view to justify your narrative. It’s the diminishing of Greek culture ( not a single Greek actor in the entire prosecution). It’s about Nolan turning Odysseus into victim of PTSD when he was full of hubris according to Homer. That change altered the entire movie. The problem begins with the version Nolan based his movie on. It’s that he introduces a character from the Aeneid so he could cast Page to play him. It’s that so many that watch the movie and never read the material will now have a warped view of the material.

Every criticism of The Odyssey has come from people who: 1. Can't accept a black actor playing a fictional woman (who was hatched from an egg). So, racists Or 2. Got their knowledge of ancient Greece from 300 & Brad Pitt's Troy Critics/historians/normal folk seem to love it

@hackedbracket @timkawakami I’ve never liked Nolan films going back to the 2000s before I’d even heard of Elon. Nolan is an awful director. I’m sorry you’re hurting inside.

@Aarow_16 @mackaybell Also the run time too. It’s why movies nearly 3 hours long like titanic, avatar and potentially Odyssey have smaller opening weekends, but longer legs.

@mackaybell The odyssey being rated R is a pretty big factor and the fact you don’t mention that shows how disingenuous you are being.

Nolan Bros: The Odyssey is a massive hit! Look at the opening weekend numbers! Others: Superman had a better opening last year around the same time. Nolan Bros: Superhero movies don't count! They always have big audiences! Other: Superman crapped out at 625M. A hugely disappointing number. So you're saying The Odyssey will do worse?

The scary thing here is that IMAX can't build any more new projectors. (They apparently don't have a complete set of the engineering blueprints, most of the engineers who designed them have retired or passed away, and the parts supply chains have long since dried up.) So the goal for the foreseeable future is to upgrade and keep all the existing projectors running for as long as they can.

Fun fact: “The Odyssey” UNDERPERFORMED internationally too! $139.6 million from 73 international markets is absolutely DISASTROUS relative to the expectations, budget, and Nolan brand. And even moreso when you consider Nolan's home territory, UK/Ireland, delivered only a measley $17.4M! Other markets: 🇫🇷 France — $13.7M 🇮🇹 Italy — $11.5M 🇦🇺 Australia — $9.2M 🇩🇪 Germany — $8.0M 🇮🇳 India — $7.2M 🇲🇽 Mexico — $7.0M 🇪🇸 Spain — $5.2M 🇧🇷 Brazil — $4.7M 🇦🇪 UAE — $3.0M And the remaining 63 smaller markets combined contributed about $52.7M - less than $1 million per territory. For a $400M investment and a Nolan-level event film, these numbers should be much higher. Don't believe the hype.

@GPrime85 Strong disagree anyone who bought tickets are the most credible to complain about Odyssey. They a literally the customer. People who watched it free (ie press) or who have rage bait X and YT accounts who didn’t watch are the least credible due to conflict of interest.

I say this with sadness, not anger: If you bought a ticket for the Odyssey this weekend, you have surrendered the right to complain about Hollywood ruining movies. Your words & actions are not in alignment. You cannot lead others, because you can’t even follow yourself.

I was so excited for yesterday's World Cup final - which left me flat. 1 goal in 120 minutes. Spain won with suffocating defense that rendered the GOAT just another player. More stars in the stands than on the pitch. Soccer turned back into what it mostly always has been - boring
