I commissioned this column by Jenni Murray back when I was doing a bit of work for Prospect in 2022. In defence of @MumsnetTowers. A journalist who didn't shy from the truth, and who paid a price for that. prospectmagazine.co.uk/society/38415/…

Dame Jenni Murray, best known for presenting BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour from 1987 to 2020, has sadly died at the age of 75. Mohit Bakaya, Controller, BBC Radio 4 and Director of BBC Speech Audio has paid tribute tribute to Dame Jenni. “Jenni Murray was a formidable voice in British broadcasting who was warm, fearless and beloved by listeners,” he said. “During her decades at Woman’s Hour, she helped shape the national conversation with intelligence, rigour and a remarkable ability to connect with audiences. Jenni leaves an indelible legacy on generations of listeners. “We are profoundly grateful for her outstanding contribution to Radio 4, and she will be deeply missed.”

Jenni Murray: “I have no regrets. I stand by everything I’ve written and said. After the Supreme Court ruled in April that the legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex, it’s finally being acknowledged that we’ve been right all along” archive.is/2025.09.11-153…

We have lost a magnificent woman. R.I.P Dame Jenni Murray. You truly put the woman into ‘Woman’s Hour’. You will be missed. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Was told outright in a BBC training session that Jenni Murray ‘had been silenced’. A travesty. She was terrific.
