One TERF complained that, theoretically, a trans person could take part in this course. As a result, the entire course has been shut down. Just another example of transphobia harming women

@JournalistJill It was actually listening to Woman's Hour interviewing @Docstockk that peaked me. I was like - hold on she was bullied out of her job and you're treating her like she's the bad guy. I have never been the same person since.

The latest Woman's Hour debacle...can you think of any more examples of them trolling women with TRAs...can think of Steph and the endo charity and Nuala apologising for calling RMW 'he' at one point...any others?

Tesco and Sainsbury's avocados are from Israel. Do not buy. They also try to hide them in with the Moroccan avos, so look out!

I’ve written to every Member of Parliament today. Proposals before Parliament would remove jury trials from offences carrying up to three years in prison. Freedoms rarely vanish overnight. They are chipped away in the name of efficiency. Juries did not cause the crisis in our courts. Removing them will not fix it. When the state seeks to take someone’s liberty for serious offences, the judgment of ordinary citizens should never be optional. This is close to becoming law. Please read the letter. Contact your MP now.

Open justice is one of the fundamental pillars of the British justice system. Yet the @MoJGovUK is ordering the deletion of the UK’s largest court reporting archive. That act will only serve to undermine transparency and justice in Great Britain.

Come hell & high water I am shoehorning this Livy quote into my WIP. It's BRILLIANT. "The year was marred by omnious signs, fires blazed in the sky, there was a violent earthquake & a cow talked - there was a rumour that a cow had talked the previous year but nobody believed it"

@MadelaineLucyH I’m nearly 50 and my high school male teachers - so, 35 years ago? - deliberately kept doors and lines of sight open. It’s normal.

I was at uni during the height of MeToo. I remember going to a male professor out of hours for research on a lab study. I noticed he opened his office door, propped it open, and went back to his desk. I asked him why he did that. “accusations from female students,” he said. Which is what I think a lot of men really took away from MeToo, not how women are actually being treated.

Labour’s VAT raid kills off Exeter Cathedral’s prep school - founded 1179! Musical excellence spanning nine centuries, associated with some of the finest English choral music, destroyed by philistine ignoramuses Starmer and Phillipson. Vandalising England’s cultural heritage

One hundred years ago in 1925 women finally won the fight to have their own, single sex swimming pond on Hampstead Heath. Please can we have it back now?

We’d love to talk to BBC Woman’s Hour about our report on sexual assaults and voyeurism in leisure centres which have mixed-sex changing facilities. We’re sure it would be of great interest to your listeners. So, please, let’s make it happen … @BBCWomansHour @itsanitarani @bbcnuala @EmmaSPearce @sharrond62
Women's Rights Network - WRN@WomensRightsNet

NEW! Our latest report has uncovered a shocking level of rapes, sexual assaults and voyeurism committed in leisure centres. In just one year there were 16 rapes, 80 sexual assaults and 65 acts of voyeurism across 257 leisure centres in England and Wales. The majority of ‘non-contact’ sexual crimes such voyeurism and taking illicit photographs are in swimming pool mixed-sex changing rooms. There are 880 leisure centres in England and Wales so the true scale of these crimes is likely to be very much higher. ‘It is not good enough for local authorities to ignore the biggest risk to any woman or girl when she goes swimming – the predatory male in the cubicle next door,’ says Heather Binning, executive director of Women’s Rights Network. ‘The scale of sexual crimes in leisure centres is simply shocking. Mixed-sex changing rooms are a magnet for sexual predators and yet local councils continue to build and refurbish leisure centres with only mixed-sex changing for their swimming pool users. Our previous leisure centre report discovered that one-third of local authority swimming pool only have mixed-sex changing in their swimming pools. They have designed-in harm. ‘Local councils, @Sport_England, leisure centre operators and architects must take this issue seriously. We are calling for Sport England to withdraw its promotion of mixed-sex changing as the default option for leisure centre design. New facilities must be built with single-sex changing rooms and current facilities must be risk-assessed as a matter of urgency and steps put in place to protect females from harm.’ Link to ‘How Leisure Centres Enable Sexual Predators’ report in the next post. 1/2

The close of Middlemarch is one of the most beautiful in literature: a great many people do a great deal of good in honest, low-profile ways. Their greatness is often not tested, as perhaps St Teresa or Antigone's wouldn't be in another life; their quiet heroism passes unremarked
