This person is currently running first in her primary to be the nominee for our party. We all know who she really means by “Zionists.” The Democratic Party I know and love is a party that condemns hate of all kinds and believes in the importance of diversity, inclusion, and pluralism. We simply cannot allow for the normalization of this horrifyingly casual antisemitism, nor can we allow this person to represent the Democratic Party. @bradlander will you condemn this or will you continue to encourage this disgusting rhetoric?

TX-35 Democratic candidate Maureen Galindo says she will convert ICE detention center in Karnes County into an internment camp for "American Zionists." "It will also be a castration processing center for pedophiles, which will probably be most of the Zionists," she added.

“People have a right to worship free from harassment and intimidation.” @GovKathyHochul didn’t flinch. She doubled down on a buffer zone around synagogues in front of a sold-out @JCRCNY and got a standing ovation from Jewish community leaders. Talk is cheap. Action matters.

My statement with @Lynn4NYC and @JoannAriola32: Highland Park and Forest Park in Queens were vandalized with at least 11 swastikas. Just a week ago today, similar antisemitic graffiti was found at two synagogues and two private homes in the borough. This is yet another hateful incident meant to intimidate Jewish New Yorkers and divide our city. And we want to be clear: We cannot and will not accept this as normal. That’s why the Council passed our Five-Point Action Plan to Combat Antisemitism, and why we’ll continue fighting for education and accountability. We’re in touch with the NYPD, which is investigating. The Parks Department will remove the graffiti as soon as possible.

Happy Mother’s Day to my mom, @CarolynBMaloney, whose example has shaped both my life and my understanding of public service. Growing up, I had a front row seat to what leadership looks like, resilience, hard work, and a deep commitment to fighting for people and the issues that matter. Her example has had a lasting impact on me, and I’m incredibly grateful not just for her leadership, but for her love and support as my mom. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and mother figures who help shape the next generation.

UPDATE ON ANTISEMITIC ATTACKS IN FOREST HILLS & REGO PARK Am glad to report that the blatant antisemitic graffiti that appeared in both my district and in @PhilWongNYC's district has been removed, after an investigation by @NYPDHateCrimes As Co-Chair of @JewishCaucusNYC, I was appalled by this deliberate display of hatred. I want to thank @SpeakerMenin for her amazing support and @NYPDnews for their diligence. There is video and I have been assured those who committed this vile act will be found and held fully accountable. Below are photos before removal of the graffiti.

Thank you for always standing with the Jewish Community
Speaker Julie Menin@SpeakerMenin

Multiple synagogues and private homes in Queens were vandalized overnight with swastikas and other antisemitic graffiti. @Lynn4NYC, @PhilWongNYC and I are at one of the sites, Congregation Machane Chodosh, in Forest Hills now. When rabbis and congregants arrived to pray this morning, they expected to be met with their usual loving community. When a family woke up, they were prepared to begin an otherwise normal week. Instead, they were met with terrifying signals of hatred and threats of violence. We have visited some of these locations and are in contact with the NYPD, which is investigating and searching for at least four individuals responsible for the terrible incidents. The graffiti will be removed once the investigation is complete. With antisemitism on the rise here and across the globe, we will always stand up for our Jewish community and fight back against hate.

The DOE–NYPD MOU is not a one-to-one model for every situation, but it shows that coordination, clear roles, and NYC oversight were important enough to be explicitly defined. Currently, if a protest or disruption targets a non-public school facility that also houses a pre-K program, NYC policy is vague about what crosses the line into real harm for young children and staff. Ambiguity makes everyone less safe. Clarity, transparency, and accountability increase safety. The Council is promoting planning and transparency, not banning protest. Clear, consistent standards help protect everyone. Grateful to Speaker Menin and the City Council.
Speaker Julie Menin@SpeakerMenin

Ensuring students and congregants can enter and exit their schools and houses of worship without fear of harassment or intimidation should not be controversial. The safe access bills simply require the NYPD to clearly outline how they will ensure safe access when there are threats of obstruction or physical injury, while fully protecting First Amendment rights.

I know math is hard, but the @NYCCouncil finance team did the work—digging into the details to find real solutions. Our budget response clearly says: ❌ NO increasing property taxes in the middle of an affordability crisis ❌ NO raiding the rainy day fund, a tool for true emergencies Under the @SpeakerMenin's leadership, we focused on: ✅ Smart spending and strategic savings, line by line ✅ Maintaining city services, no reductions ✅ Revenue raisers, that don't penalize hard working New Yorkers. The Mayor's proposed City budget is a whopping $127 billion. The City's not broke, we're just badly managed. And we can balance this budget responsibly without putting our long-term fiscal health at risk.

@NYCMayor For 2000 years Jews have been saying on Passover night: "next year in Jerusalem!" Passover is another reminder that the Jewish people are indigenous to the land of Israel.
