The Railways can operate an express day train between Bengaluru and Mantralayam Road or Raichuru using the same rake. This would optimise asset utilisation without requiring additional rolling stock. A direct daytime express service would greatly benefit daily passengers, pilgrims and economically weaker travellers heading to Mantralayam or Raichuru. Mysuru doesn’t need an Amrit Bharat Express to Thanjavur or Tuticorin, as both destinations are already served by regular daily trains. Five months have passed. Where is the promised daily superfast train between Bengaluru and Mumbai with a travel time of under 19 hours? An announcement was made with much publicity. Passengers were assured faster connectivity between two major economic hubs. We never demanded a 23-hour journey bi-weekly express to connect Bengaluru–Mumbai. That’s not what passengers are asking for. Connectivity should be about efficiency, not tokenism. What we need is a daily Superfast train, with journey time reduced to 18–19 hours, matching the importance of two major metros and the heavy passenger demand on this corridor.
