@peppipets Infrastructure includes public transportation. The US is badly lacking in that regard.

@JBeastnB @jedigoodman It’s wasn’t America’s birthday. It was Trump’s birthday. I have no interest in celebrating the birthday of a man who has divided the country so deeply, inflicted so much suffering at home and abroad, and personally grifted $Millions from the presidency.

@jedigoodman The left can’t “sit around and enjoy” much of anything, especially the 250 th birthday of America…. Because they hate America.

Dana White on the event not being political: I did all the media. We went to New York, I did far left. I did far right. I did down the middle. I did it all. I believe if you are an American, no matter where you sit politically, tonight was a proud night to just sit around and enjoy the 250th birthday of America.

@VinSharma95 Was a much better playoffs overall for Marner compared to his time with the Leafs but he basically disappeared in the last 3 games against Carolina when he had just 1 assist in 3 straight losses.

@StevieGhandiz @nypost A lot of people want to go to World Cup games regardless of the teams playing. The problem is the ticket prices are too high for many of them.

I was disgusted with so called Canadians booing the USA flag !! They embarrassed Canada and denigrated yet again our international image ! So many Canadians are programmed or indoctrinated with a misguided anti-USA ideology by our government and media !

@GaryAGabbard @jonkay The term “soccer” (UK origin) is commonly used in countries that have multiple forms of football to distinguish it. Ireland has Gaelic Football, Australia has Aussie Rules Football, Canada has Canadian Football, USA has American Football, and many countries have Rugby Football.

@jonkay I think this may be the very moment I realized that Canadians said soccer rather than football. It makes sense, I just never realized it before.

I’m fine for people to run around waving their flags and screaming about how we scored a goal in a soccer match. But the idea that getting a draw against a balkan country of 3 million people is some kind of historic Canadian achievement seems quite weird to me.
Joe Callaghan@JoeCallaghan84

Wrote about this exact moment and the moments we then saw inside the stadium today as Cyle Larin lifted Canada all the way up. Can a country lift its team? Yes. And this team of all teams is ready to feed off Canada’s love. For @TorontoStar thestar.com/sports/soccer/…

The "Wrong Identity" rule was applied for the first time in football history. The VAR intervened to transfer a yellow card from US defender Ream to Paraguay attacker Almirón, who dived.

I’m Toronto born & raised & grew up playing & now broadcasting soccer (my parents are from Liverpool) + my son plays university soccer. These scenes have me strangely emotional. This is the Canada I remember & love, not what we’ve been become post 2020.🇨🇦

@Word_on_a_Wire @iamkennethchan Proper football stadium? Not for the World Cup. It needed temporary seating to get it up to World Cup minimum capacity. And it’s still not big enough to host any game in the quarter finals or later.

@iamkennethchan Toronto Stadium is brilliant. Proper traditional British style stadium with a first class pitch and fantastic sight lines. Every seat is right up and on top of the pitch. Proper football stadium, made for football/⚽️.

Toronto Stadium (BMO Field) was an underwhelming venue for Canada's FIFA World Cup opening. Especially compared to the cathedrals of Mexico City Stadium (Estadio Azteca) & Los Angeles Stadium (SoFi). BC Place Vancouver is Canada's flagship. It should've been today's venue.

@RasmusJarlov @BearsBy73 Gaelic Football Rugby Union Football Australian Rules Football The governing body of Rugby Union is the RFU. Guess what the “F” stands for? This is why “soccer” is often used in countries like Ireland, South Africa, and Australia to distinguish it from other forms of football.

@RasmusJarlov There’s nothing wrong with the word “soccer”. The word originated in England. Former Manchester United manager Sir Matt Busby even wrote a book titled: “Soccer At The Top - My Life In Football”.
