There is awful news coming out of Scotland today. PD Zeus has been attacked by a man with a knife during an arrest in Aberdeen, and was rushed to the veterinary hospital where he has undergone surgery. Our first thoughts are with PD Zeus, his handler and all at @PSOSDogs, @PSOSAberdeen, and @PoliceScotland after this horrific incident. Zeus is now home after his procedure, and we wish him a speedy recovery. The bravery and determination of every handler and their police dogs is unwavering and in the face of danger, they run towards it, while others run away. PD Zeus, you’re an absolute hero. PD Zeus will be the first service animal to receive our new NFRSA Bravery Award and it will be a privilege to present it to him in the coming weeks. Time now to rest and get well again. Bless you and your handler.

@The_NFRSA @korkybuczek @PSOSDogs @theFOALGroup Just to throw a little pedantism into the mix, in Scotland PD Zeus and our other amazing service animals receive similar protection in terms of s19 Animal Health and Welfare (Sco) Act 2006, which was amended in a 2020 act to introduce similar protections to the ones in E&Ws

@korkybuczek @PSOSDogs Happily the Animal Welfare (Service Animals) Act 2019, on which a large number of people worked hard to get, including @theFOALGroup, will protect PD Zeus - and hopefully the suspect will be brought to swift justice.

Did I read an outcome would be provided by today about a certain pay discussion?

@ScotsCopper Inccorrect. What you read on the intranet was papers would be submitted by 13th. (In fact both sides had them submitted by last week). Then SPF stated it would take up to 2 weeks for arbitration to return with a result!

@DaIeEvans What’s the possibility of receiving backdated pay with interest added for each month? I know it’s not happened in the past, however this has dragged on for so long, that figure will now be starting to add up..

@ScotsPolFed So out of touch, do you actually know that members would have accepted 4.75%? Did you not even think to ask us. It's a disgrace that you are keeping quiet of the potential outcome of arbitration, being that we could get less and it may not be backdated to April.

#NoStrikeFairPay Police Officers are protesting outside the Scottish Police Authority meeting this morning over our treatment over pay. Other public services have received 5.5%, which is what we are asking for. We are being offered 4.75%. The anger from colleagues is palpable.
