Europe is facing an existential crisis. Some thoughts: Once a bastion of freedom and meritocracy, Europe risks becoming an emblem of Western authoritarianism. Once at the technical frontier, Europe’s technology sector is overrun with regulatory hurdles, making it unnecessarily difficult to operate and build thriving businesses. Once a crucial component of the global economy and of global politics, it has failed to maintain economic and political relevance vs the US, Asia, and the Middle East. In an attempt to maintain its extremely thin quality of life advantage, Europe has failed on every other metric that truly matters: growth, productivity, abundance, and future-proofing. I sincerely believe the best way to rectify this mess is to empower the European pioneers of tomorrow with capital, the freedom to build, and a thick layer of insulation from the state. Ironically, I’ve never been more bullish on European founders because others are waking up to this existential crisis — and they’re not ready to give up. Investing in Europe has become contrarian, and I’m here for it. If you’re building abundance tech out of Europe, and share my dream of radical acceleration for this corner of the world, hit me up.
