Sports for friendship #FIFA High Commissioner hosted the Indian Women National Football Team at India House. The team is in Kenya for the 4-nation @FIFAcom Women’s Series. The evening brought together players and members of Indian diaspora, celebrating the growing momentum of women’s football and the strong people-to-people ties between 🇮🇳 and 🇰🇪. A special highlight was the presence of ten young aspiring women footballers from the Indian diaspora, who had the unique opportunity to interact and play with the national team. The energy and excitement on display reflected the power of sport in inspiring the next generation, while prominent members of the diaspora joined in extending their support and encouragement to the team. The High Commission of India, Kigali organized an event to mark the 77th Foundation Day of Indian Council For Cultural Relations in a befitting manner on 09 April 2026. The event was attended by around 80 guests, drawn from the Indian community in Kigali, and Friends of India. It began with an invigorating yoga session led by Mr Nikhil Nuwal, Local Yoga Resource Person, followed by a serene meditation session conducted by Sister Seeta from Brahma Kumaris Kigali, promoting harmony of mind and body. A drawing competition on the theme “Cultural Heritage and Indian Tourist Attractions” brought out vibrant creativity in 30 children participating across two age groups (5–12 and 13–18 years). Their artwork beautifully captured the richness of Indian culture and places of tourist interest. Ambassador was honoured to participate in the protocol greetings to the President of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile, H.E. Sr Jorge Alessandri Vergara, at the National Congress in Santiago. The courtesy meeting with members of the Diplomatic Corps underscored the role of Congress in foreign policy, particularly in matters related to international relations, treaties and the promotion of democracy. The President of the Chamber was accompanied by the First Vice-President Deputado Felipe Camano Cardenas and Second Vice- President Deputada Ximena Ossandon Irarrázabal.
