This is a dumb take.
If homeschooling your kids exempted you from funding the school district, not having kids in the school district would also exempt you from those taxes.
And then the school would be insolvent and there would be no school.

@wrowclif I don't have kids. I bought a house knowing I don't have kids nor do I intend to have kids, so I have no use for the school system.
It never occurred to me that I shouldn't pay part of my taxes. It's just how things work. You buy a house, you pay the taxes to the city, the end.

To be clear, my husband wouldn’t say anything except “thank you babe” if I were to serve him grilled cheese. But the man works 12-14 hour days outdoors doing blue collar work. A regular grilled cheese sandwich is barely a snack for him 😂

Millennial here. No one is saying it wasn’t hard, or at least didn’t feel hard.
What we are saying is that for many of us it isn’t hard - it’s impossible.

Boomer here. I bought my first house after ten years of saving like crazy. And the interest was 14.5%. I don’t know where kids got the idea that they were due a house and new car at college graduation, but that’s NOT how it ever was.

@merrydevo I'm sure it has absolutely nothing to do w the fact that the grandparents raised their kids, and while many grandparents do help, what person in their late 60s, 70s, and 80s wants to have kids w them full time to look after?

It’s honestly insane how often I see this take. That grandparents are “disinterested” in their grandkids if they don’t want to provide full time childcare for them, 50 weeks a year!!! Insanity and never been normal. Babysitting is normal.

“Shocking” messages from Proctor’s phone? Any data from Proctor's phone is available only within the O’Keefe wrongful death case and is subject to a strict protective order.
That order is clear: disclosure is limited to counsel, associated staff, investigators, and experts. Counsel “shall not show or provide the materials” to anyone outside that group, and the materials “shall not be disseminated outside” of that litigation.
Now it seems @masslivenews is pulling from a motion she filed, but that raises the same issue. If protected material is being included or referenced in a public filing, that’s a serious concern given the restrictions in place.
So if this is being presented as publicly available “new” information, it doesn’t add up. Either the material is being mischaracterized, or there are real questions about how it’s being used.
Either way, the reporting doesn’t align with the actual legal boundaries in place.
