🚨 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 @AbiyAhmedAli 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐈𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐦𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚 There is an industrial-scale destruction of schools taking place across Amhara Region at the hands of the Abiy regime — and the world continues to look the other way. According to @UNICEF, Ethiopia already has more than 9 million children out of school, with Amhara alone accounting for 4.4 million — the highest in the country. But the war on Amhara has produced a uniquely catastrophic collapse: ▪️ Over 5,231 schools in Amhara — 65.1% of all schools in the region — are now non-operational, leaving more than 4.4 million children without access to education. ▪️ 1,390 schools have been damaged in fighting. ▪️ More than 830 schools have been repurposed for military use by regime forces. These numbers come from only 11 zonal administrations; several zones were unable to report data due to ongoing hostilities. This means the true scale of destruction is even higher. The systematic targeting and degradation of schools, such as the recent destruction of Giraqidam Secondary and Preparatory School in East Gojjam, is not collateral damage. It is part of a broader pattern of violations against civilians and essential civilian infrastructure in Amhara Region. Education is being erased. An entire generation is being pushed into darkness. And still, the world remains silent.
