The killings in the last 24 hours of 14 health workers in southern #Lebanon mark a tragic development in the escalating Middle East crisis. @WHO has confirmed that 12 doctors, paramedics and nurses were killed in a strike late last night on the Bourj Qalaouiyeh primary healthcare center. Just hours earlier, two paramedics lost their lives in attacks on a health facility in Al Sowana. These incidents highlight the ongoing assault on Lebanon’s healthcare system, which is crucial for the populations it serves. Since March 2, WHO has verified 27 attacks on healthcare in Lebanon, resulting in 30 deaths and 35 injuries, including the horrifying events of Friday. WHO condemns this tragic loss of life and emphasizes that health workers must always be protected. According to international humanitarian law, medical personnel and facilities should never be attacked or militarized. The intensification of conflict in Lebanon and the broader Middle East increases the likelihood of such tragedies. Urgent action is required to de-escalate the crisis and protect the health of people throughout the region.

#KeepEyesOnSudan The RSF has bombed maternity hospitals, causing deaths and torture of people with disabilities. Currently, they are targeting the only cancer hospital in North Kordofan with drones.

Since the conflict began in Amhara region of #Ethiopia, there are disturbing reports of health workers being targeted - detained, beaten, and killed. On Feb 4, Dr. Tsegahun Sime was reportedly taken by security forces in Bahir Dar and later found dead. Hospitals have been damaged in the fighting, and aid workers have lost their lives. With internet blackouts limiting information, these incidents need urgent independent investigation. Health facilities and health workers are not a target. Peace is the best medicine!

Sudan’s health system is under attack again. This week alone, three health facilities were attacked in South Kordofan, in a region already suffering acute malnutrition. On 3 February, an attack on a primary health centre killed 8 people – including 5 children and 3 women – and injured 11. On 4 February, a hospital was attacked killing 1 person. On 5 February, another attack on a hospital killed 22 people – including 4 health workers – and injured 8. The whole world should get behind Sudan’s peace initiative to end violence, protect the people and rebuild the health system. The best medicine is peace.

#KeepEyesOnSudan Civilian killings are a significant aspect of RSF activity. Unfortunately, SPLM N (AlHello) is also involved in attacking civilians in #Kadugli and in bombing hospitals, health workers, and patients, with drone attack victims rising. At the same time, the Sudanese Army is failing to protect civilians.

After detaining him, the regime’s soldiers took him back to his home and conducted a search. When they found nothing during the search, the soldiers took Dr. Tsegahun to the Bezawit Palace area, where they executed him. After brutally murdering Dr. Tsegahun, the regime’s soldiers, acting with utter impunity, used his own phone to call his wife and told her to come and collect his body. Although it is not known what exactly led to his killing, friends say that about a week earlier Dr. Tsegahun had been summoned to a private meeting by Abdulkerim Mengistu, the head of the Amhara Regional Health Bureau, and that he left the office visibly distressed. The family has also confirmed that nothing was found during the house search and that the regime’s soldiers took no evidence from his home.

Abiy Ahmed’s destructive forces attacked Del Primary School in Gishe Woreda, North Shewa, with a drone strike. Two students who were sitting at their classroom desks were killed instantly, and many others were severely injured. The drone strike, carried out at 11:00 a.m. on December 11, 2025, demonstrated the regime’s willingness to commit atrocities even against children. An entire classroom was destroyed, and more than ten students were critically injured and transported for medical treatment.

🚨 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 @AbiyAhmedAli 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐈𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐦𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚 There is an industrial-scale destruction of schools taking place across Amhara Region at the hands of the Abiy regime — and the world continues to look the other way. According to @UNICEF, Ethiopia already has more than 9 million children out of school, with Amhara alone accounting for 4.4 million — the highest in the country. But the war on Amhara has produced a uniquely catastrophic collapse: ▪️ Over 5,231 schools in Amhara — 65.1% of all schools in the region — are now non-operational, leaving more than 4.4 million children without access to education. ▪️ 1,390 schools have been damaged in fighting. ▪️ More than 830 schools have been repurposed for military use by regime forces. These numbers come from only 11 zonal administrations; several zones were unable to report data due to ongoing hostilities. This means the true scale of destruction is even higher. The systematic targeting and degradation of schools, such as the recent destruction of Giraqidam Secondary and Preparatory School in East Gojjam, is not collateral damage. It is part of a broader pattern of violations against civilians and essential civilian infrastructure in Amhara Region. Education is being erased. An entire generation is being pushed into darkness. And still, the world remains silent.
