St. Patrick’s Day is not about Palestine or Israel or any other country. St. Patrick’s Day is about Ireland and the Irish people, and we are not a monolith in terms of our belief system on Middle Eastern geopolitics. The Palestinian movement should not be placed at the forefront of Ireland’s national holiday by a mayor who, to my knowledge, has never even been here and who only yesterday openly admitted he had not ‘thought enough’ about the subject of a United Ireland. There are so many things to be proud of in being Irish: our literature, our music, our film, our language. The obsessive grandstanding against Israel, which is very recent in the course of our long and illustrious history, is not one of them. Mamdani should stick to New York, and stop telling Irish people who and what we are. Insulting beyond belief that he co-opts our holiday for his own political agenda.

Just spoke to @POTUS about our European allies’ unwillingness to provide assets to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning, which benefits Europe far more than America. I have never heard him so angry in my life. I share that anger given what’s at stake. The arrogance of our allies to suggest that Iran with a nuclear weapon is of little concern and that military action to stop the ayatollah from acquiring a nuclear bomb is our problem not theirs is beyond offensive. The European approach to containing the ayatollah’s nuclear ambitions have proven to be a miserable failure. The repercussions of providing little assistance to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning are going to be wide and deep for Europe and America. I consider myself very forward-leaning on supporting alliances, however at a time of real testing like this, it makes me second guess the value of these alliances. I am certain I am not the only senator who feels this way.

Due to the incompetence of British police, this uneducated, brain cell deprived pig, @BobbyVylan, once again publicly called for the “death of the IDF”, a chant which targets almost every Israeli man and woman for whom it is a compulsory requirement to serve in the IDF due to the threat from hostile groups whose charters openly call for the extermination of all Jews. It’s a chant that calls for the death of fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, normal everyday people who are simply trying to survive and live a normal life. It’s not some abstract political slogan. It's a vile, hateful call for violence against an entire population that is expected to serve in its country’s defence. The fact that this kind of rhetoric can be shouted publicly without consequence says everything about the complete failure of the authorities to enforce even the most basic standards of law and order.

Maybe the Irish Federation of University Teachers shld have focused on its primary functions not its anti Israel obsessive fetish? On the Ist July 2024 it called on all institutions of higher education in Ireland to sever any existing institutional partnerships or affiliations with Israeli institutions & supported & endorsed “the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement” campaign against Israeli Universities & all Israelis. Also supported the egregious boycott implemented by the TCD Board that surrendered & pandered to TCD Student Union Marxist militants. Seems that focus not working out so well for those the Federation of University Teachers purports to represent! Perhaps something of a teaching moment?
