@MISSSIX @anspailpin The RNLI is British, the fact that we rely on them is the awkward bit.

@airmainengineer Took this a few years ago, just out from edge of the BP, the angle to the AP is crazy steep.

Runway 09 into London City ✈️
Definitely one of the most unique approaches in commercial aviation. Instead of the standard 3 degree glide path, London City requires a 5.5 degree steep approach straight into the middle of the city, bringing you incredibly low over the buildings during final approach!!✈️
On the Embraer we use a dedicated steep approach mode specifically designed for London City operations. Once activated, the aircraft deploys the spoilers in flight to help maintain the steeper descent profile. It’s a mode we only use for LCY operations, which makes every approach into this airport feel special in its own way.
Combined with the short runway, surrounding buildings and often tricky weather conditions, London City landings are captain-only operations. During this approach I’m acting as Pilot Monitoring while the captain flies the aircraft and performs the landing.
A small insight into what a London City approach looks and sounds like from the cockpit! Enjoy🙌🏽

@carnavandala @julianisdoing @StephenFleming @AirFranceKLM They used to be much cheaper before they got bought out
English

@Jackastapleton @julianisdoing @StephenFleming @AirFranceKLM cool, but I’m not paying 1k for a suitcase.
English

Kudos to @AirFranceKLM. They destroyed my wife’s suitcase (stuff happens), so we trudged to the service desk. I was hoping for some duct tape and expected to fill out a form where, maybe, they’d send me twenty bucks in six weeks or so.
Nope! The friendly and efficient clerk apologized for the damage, measured our suitcase, went into the back room, and returned with a brand-new suitcase, the same size, still in the shrink wrap. We swapped the contents right there and rolled out of baggage claim with the new suitcase.
Nicely done. That’s the sort of service I’d expect from Singapore Air, not a European carrier.
(By the way, what happened to @SamsoniteUSA? Apparently they’re no longer gorilla-proof…)

English

@julianisdoing @StephenFleming @AirFranceKLM mines pretty beat and customised with stickers, it doesn’t scream steal me 😂
English

@Jackastapleton @StephenFleming @AirFranceKLM I worry about theft with Rimowa :/
But they do look good!!
English

@julianisdoing @StephenFleming @AirFranceKLM Pre LVMH Rimowa with 300+ flights still going strong here. My briggs has held up better but the Rimowa dents and scratches and the stickers from every country it’s been to make it look even better than it did new
English

@StephenFleming @AirFranceKLM There is zero reason to spend $$$ on expensive suitcases.
I’ve bought expensive suitcases that broke after one trip.
My longest lasting hard shell was purchased from Ross for $40.
Has been to over 15 countries with me across 40+ flights and still kicking 😂

@DoublepPradhan @danlamb @TicTocTick that is ugly, it has no warmth to it, its looks cheap and plasticky.

@wethepeopleeire @DanielMo2007 @Mickbraz1 1) it’s a draft
2) which part of what he’s doing as an individual is SLAAP
English

Why is Alan Shatter, the ex justice minister no less, allowed to issue what appears to be weekly SLAAP threats to people and organisations with impunity?
This practice is illegal in this country, in my honest opinion, after researching the issue. Shatter is clearly using social media to revel in the fear and submission of his targets for political purposes and to the detriment of public participation. Use of legal threats to cultivate public apologies is illegal.
Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (“SLAPPs”)
“A significant proposal contained in the Draft General Scheme is the potential introduction of a new section into the 2009 Act to address SLAPPs, the use of strategic and abusive litigation by powerful plaintiffs to deter public discussion. Under the proposal, defendants would be able to apply to a court for early dismissal of an action, or, after the full hearing for a dismissal and/or declaration that the proceedings constituted a SLAPP. The Draft General Scheme provides that proceedings may be considered by a court to constitute a SLAPP if they have certain “features of concern” such as:
“(a) the making of claims of a disproportionate, excessive or unreasonable nature;
(b) intimidation, harassment or threats made by the plaintiff or his or her representatives against the defendant or associated parties, including prior to the institution of the proceedings;
(c) the existence of multiple proceedings initiated by the plaintiff or associated parties, against the defendant or associated parties, in relation to similar matters;
(d) the conduct of the litigation by the plaintiff in a manner which is disproportionate, excessive or unreasonable, including (but not limited to) the use of aggressive, unreasonably frequent, or intrusive pre-action communication...”
If proceedings are found to constitute a SLAPP, a plaintiff may be liable to bear the defendant’s costs in full. Furthermore, if a court is satisfied that defamation proceedings are a SLAPP or abusive, a court may award damages to the defendant in those proceedings for harm suffered as a result of the proceedings.”

The described law came in to effect earlier this year and contains specific provisions to prevent exactly what Alan Shatter is doing here and every other day.

@KeithMillsD7 The obsession is real. I've never seen more people talk about Eurovision lol.

RTÉ may have lost interest in #eurovision, to a point where they no longer compete, but it's clear that interest in the contest is still high, even on the RTÉ website.

@ciarannugent Finland, Estonia, Latvia. They won’t though because of NATO, if they can’t beat Ukraine they have no hope against the combined powers they’d face

So......they've to get through Ukraine before they get to the EU
.......and we're trying to send civilians back?

...and 86% believe that Russia's invasion of Ukraine threatens the security of the EU, again well above the average in the bloc.

@ciarannugent The idea that the government gets more than you in return for your work is immoral.

Even the Irish Times (and government apparently) don't know basic Irish income tax rates
The 52% marginal rate only happens when USC kicks in to 8%......kicks in on income above 70k
Which only applies to 18% of workers

@Urcrazytoo1000 @tristan_ja28476 @JocastaMoney @asda No valid reason for battery hen farming or, non stun slaughter, both are unnecessary cruel to an unacceptable level. Most other standards like veal crating etc.. have been improved, those three are the worst remaining
English

@Jackastapleton @tristan_ja28476 @JocastaMoney @asda Can you clarify?
No valid reason for welfare standards in food to exist?
Or no valid reasons for us to have careful carve-outs for the religiously observant of any variety?
English

I tried to order a roasting chicken from @asda yesterday but the only ones they sold were Halal certifiied.
I try to spend as much money as I can buying higher welfare chicken, paying twice the price to minimise the pain and suffering they endure in life. To then slaughter them in the most inhumaine way imaginable, just to meet the religious deamands of a seventh century desert cult? No.
The British are a nation of animal lovers. Decisions such as this by our supermarket monolopies and the poulty industry are incredibly devisive. To make it worst, they will likely ignore the many customers who complain as bigots, reframing a genuine concern for animal welfare as racism.
I am done with being turned into a second class citizen. I don't want to eat meat slaughtered in such a barbaric way, nor do I want it blessed by an Imam. If did I would move to Tehran. I am boycotting @asda and all supermarkets who continue to place the demands of a small but entitled minority over the values and wishes of the mutliracial majority.
English

@Urcrazytoo1000 @tristan_ja28476 @JocastaMoney @asda I don’t buy any of the above, i used not to care but i did a research paper on welfare standards in food and came to the conclusion there’s literally no valid reason for them to exist at all.
English

@Jackastapleton @tristan_ja28476 @JocastaMoney @asda We'd all like to impose our own rules on food production, but as long as national standards of rearing and slaughter are adhered to, and *all labelling is clear*, I'm happy just to vote with my pocket.
English

@tristan_ja28476 @Urcrazytoo1000 @JocastaMoney @asda Kosher and Halal should both be banned, as should battery hens
English

@Urcrazytoo1000 @JocastaMoney @asda Just checking, you’re happy to say that you equally oppose Kosher slaughter?
