@JonBryant421 I dont know if they do or dont have trial cars in SF because I don’t really follow robotaxi stuff, Ill concede Im wrong that thats not his reason for not applying, but what I said is still true. Democrats hate Elon and Democrats run SF.

@JamesDoThings Read the tweet. What have they done to him? Why would you have trial cars in SF if you are not planning to apply? They wouldn’t. You are either profoundly ignorant on the subject or trolling.

@TechGeekAnthony @OverlyTrev different version numbers don’t make them different tech silly… Youre saying the Model Ys being used in robotaxis have better cameras? If so that just benefits my argument because it means that the evidence that my car works as well as it does without premapping …

This is an ignorant and uninformed take. First of all, LiDAR doesn’t work better in rain or snow than pure vision. If you understand how LiDAR works, you would know that. Recently, Waymo halted operations in San Antonio because “The Waymos were driving into large bodies of water.” They still have not resumed service there. Waymo is also under investigation for blowing past stopped school buses and speeding in school zones. Self-driving is not a sensor suite problem; it is an AI problem, and FSD is already on the same level as Waymo. Tesla is giving paid driverless rides in 3 cities and expanding. These people won’t get it until Tesla has more robotaxis on the road than Google does, and that could very well be by the end of this year, 2026. And yes, I do like what Waymo is doing. My point is people are still doubting Tesla Robotaxi even though it exists and is running every day!

.@a16z's @aleximm says Waymo is "significantly ahead" compared to Tesla FSD when it comes to safety: "We love Elon." "Critics would say that LiDAR provides more data and has better performance in adverse weather like fog, snow, rain." "We believe the Waymo approach today is clearly safer." " That said—if you look at FSD, and the publicly available data, they have shown significant improvement. The slope is promising."

@edgecase411 @CamCutApp Merging is a reality, it will have to happen and truckers are aware and will give themselves more room. It is safer to speed up and merge in front of a vehicle than it is to slow down and merge in front of the next vehicle behind them while decelerating.

FSD needs to be more mindful of semi trucks and give them extra space. FSD should be a defensive driver.  Edited with @CamCutApp. Go try it out!

@liorsela To be clear, I am agreeing with you. I just dont know why you think its an unpopular opinion or why youre surprised by it.

@liorsela have you ever worked in corporate? Almost nothing is planned. Things change daily and for seemingly meaningless reasons. Do you not see all the memes about it?

Unpopular opinion: Tesla’s decision to stop manufacturing the Model X and S wasn’t well thought out or long planned. Tesla lightly refreshed these models less than a year ago, adding a new Frost Blue color, quieter cabin, smoother ride, adaptive headlights, and a front camera. In my opinion, if Tesla knew these models would be discontinued, a refresh would not have been introduced.

@JamesDoThings Beyond stupid. The guys gets more benefit of the doubt (gets away with more stuff) than almost anyone in history. Please give me examples of how they are out for him. Tell me why you run cars in SF if you are not planning to apply in CA.

Maybe you don't understand what "arbitrary" means. It means based on random choice, personal whim, or preference rather than on reason, logic, evidence, rules, or standards. “After delivery to your home” isn’t arbitrary it’s how we actually compare heaters in the real world. We look at how well the thing makes heat, not the whole power plant process from dinosaur bones to your outlet. The whole argument was electric vs gas for heating, genius. Have a nice day.

@JamesDoThings @craigwedge411 @brandenflasch No arbitrary rules, the original claim was “Electric is the most inefficient way to produce heat.” We’re comparing after delivery to your home (the point of use) Gas has upstream losses too (~8-10% from wellhead to your meter). The “gotcha” still misses.

The source of the electricity isn't part of this argument. We're talking about what happens after it's delivered to your home. Resistive heaters: 100% efficient. Heat pumps: 250-500% efficient. Your gas furnace: max ~95% (rest up the chimney). (And gas has its own upstream losses getting it to your home too, which again isn't apart of this discussion.) Electric wins at the point of use. Your "gotcha" misses the point. Maybe make sure the argument you make, makes sense in the discussion.

@brandenflasch Electric is also so much faster and cheaper to operate. I don't understand why someone would not choose electric given the choice.

@ANSR42 @craigwedge411 @brandenflasch where does your electricity come from? (probably something boiling water which has the same chimney efficiency losses) Claim debunked

@craigwedge411 @brandenflasch Electric is NOT inefficient for heat. Resistive heaters: ~100% efficient (all electricity becomes heat). Heat pumps: 250–500% efficient (move heat, don't create it). Gas furnaces: max ~95%, rest up the chimney. Claim debunked 😎
