I was on the picket line today with @Aadam_Aziz and many doctors across London. And as the camera zoomed in on us, Jeremy Kyle made comments about people having “come into this country to be doctors’’ - looking straight at us, and deciding that based on the colour of our skin. Let me be absolutely clear. My parents were born here. I was born and raised in London. I have given nearly 6 years of my life working in the NHS as a doctor. And still - in 2026 - that’s not enough to be seen as someone who belongs in Britain. This isn’t just about one comment. It’s about hearing, over and over again: “Go back to where you came from.” “We don’t want you living around us.” It chips away at you. It makes you question how you’re seen. And the worst part? It actually doesn’t even shock me anymore. That’s how normalised this has become in our society. But I refuse to shrink myself to make other people comfortable. I refuse to stay silent while doctors, people who care for patients in this country every single day, can be treated like outsiders in it. I am not going anywhere. I will keep speaking. I will keep standing up. And I will keep fighting for this profession, no matter how loud the abuse gets. Solidarity to every resident doctor across England taking lawful industrial action today. Together, we will win.
Dr Aadam Aziz@Aadam_Aziz

Absolutely disgraceful racism from @jkyleofficial on @TalkTV. As the camera zooms in on me and @DrHWazir on the picket line, he sneers that “a lot of them have come into this country to be doctors.” He based this solely on the colour of my skin. I was born in the UK. I studied and trained in the UK and I currently work as a doctor in the NHS. My grandfather fought for this country in WW2. This is racist, demeaning, and utterly unacceptable.

Death Secretary Wes Streeting has absolutely no right to talk bollocks about doctors going on strike when he's lined his greedy fucking pocket with nearly 250 grand from Private Health Care Providers. The rampant hypocrisy stinks like my shite!

LadyBlues The question is always Cui Bono?
@wesstreeting You have been bought by lobbyists for Private Healthcare and we are all quite aware that your plan is for a two tier system that will be outside the pocket for the many while only the few will have access to fully qualified, experienced doctors. Resign.

It makes no sense. Unless Streeting and Starmer are intentionally running down the NHS.
Saul Staniforth@SaulStaniforth

.@fletchjack explains that a shortage of radiologists in the north east means that a specific live saving strike treatment can't be provided, and yet the NHS is turning away 3,000 fully qualified doctors who want to be radiologists! How does this make sense?

The doctors’ strike is only partly about money. The number of training places available after leaving F2 foundation is tiny. It drives British doctors abroad or prevents them pursuing a specialty. So the NHS appoints less capable foreign applicants. A shaming fiasco.

I see you can’t spell properly still It’s healthcare Which is different to medical - see how it had to clarify it? Medical = healthcare But not all healthcare = medical Understand that difference? Maybe you don’t hence you are who you are and work in the role you work in

At least google hasn’t been forced to bastardise the term ‘medical profession’ as of yet I’m sure it’ll happen soon enough though with everyone and their dog thinking they are a ‘medical professional’ or pretending to be one

@InvCoriolis @DoctorsVoteUK @HfNexttoplshf @RCPhysicians @danfurmedge @medicalmodelbri Nursing which is a medical profession which also requires years of training. Doctors really are punching down on anyone who isnt a doctor these days eh. Used to be they respected their colleagues. Changed times i guess

Yet Streeting's paying their assistants more, who've not studied medicine, are unregulated and underqualified. A member of the public, I support our Drs and all NHS staff, not his deskilling of it.
Just Treatment 💊@JustTreatment

MPs get a 5% pay rise this month whilst resident doctors are being offered 3.5% and the government just scrapped thousands of training places that would have put more doctors into #NHS wards. This is why doctors are on strike & patients are standing with them ⬇️

Richard Madeley asks @fletchjack from the BMA, if the govt bans the right to strike would resident doctors obey the law? Jack points out the BMA is a trade union & wouldn't call illegal action. Ah, Richard concludes, as he puts on his jackboots, so that would stop the strikes!

Plain and simple. Streeting/Starmer are substituting Drs with poor 2nd rate PAs/ACPs/ANPs. This is why he won't negotiate with BMA. it doesn't fit in with his 2-tier privatisation. A supporting member of the public.

Firstly - when were the official numbers ever 10M? Secondly - let’s tell you how numbers reduce: 1. People die 2. People are taken off the lists by sending them letters which reach before they can reply as the deadline has passed 3. Referrals being rejected from primary care (in fact now there isn’t a way) 🤣 4. People forced to pay privately to sort out their healthcare So 👏🏽… 👏🏽… 👏🏽

BBC: NHS waiting lists have dropped by around 30% from ca. 10M to 7.2M

Some big changes incoming into primary care @NHSEngland (H/T @medicalmodelbri for the find) And kudos to all who have ensured this is now in the new Direct Enhanced Service. 1. Name change to Assistant 2. Named supervisor 3. Removal of seeing undifferentiated patients @rcgp @BMA_GP @lengreview

The network DES PCN contract 2026/7 has been revised to remove PAs from seeing undifferentiated pts , it has also changed their title to ‘ physician assistant’ . GPs must also have regard to @rcgp and @NHSEngland guidance when employing PAs Will PAs now be brought into line?

True, it’s high time the public know that they don’t have money for doctors, but the money magically appears when needed to train lesser qualified people. Their starting pay is also more than the starting pay of doctors. Big questions for the public to ask @wesstreeting.
Eileen Molloy@dirtybird12345

High time the media informed the public that the gov is paying out £25-£75m a year to train PAs while earning more than Drs, & not studied medicine. Yet @wessstreeting @Keir_Starmer are cutting training placements for Drs. It's blatantly obvious they don't want pts to have Drs.
