H-1B families expect to come here and get permanent residency within several years. But the government pulls the rug out from under them and shifts the projected wait to sometimes 10 years later. A kid raised in the US legally at a young should be able to remain in the US. They shouldn't have to go through a lottery or whatever. That "line going up" translates into more jobs and better services for Americans. The suggestion that tax revenue and GDP are completely untethered to economic conditions for working Americans laughable and I await the day where that game of pretend stops.

Elon Musk is wrong. The main function of the H-1B visa program is not to hire “the best and the brightest,” but rather to replace good-paying American jobs with low-wage indentured servants from abroad. The cheaper the labor they hire, the more money the billionaires make.
