@MarxistObs @RTSG_Main Nice red herring. I already understood you hate Western Society by your name and first message. You don’t have to keep telling me with unrealistic, made-up numbers from terrible extrapolations.

@BladeoftheS This is false. Make under a certain amount of money and it’s as free as it is in other “free healthcare” countries like Australia or most countries in Europe

The USA is a place with no healthcare, but 1000 billionaires. At least 49 of those billionaires made all their money from Private Healthcare. Perhaps you can connect the dots.

After folks laughed at AOC for not knowing vaquero history, I knew Wikipedia would alter their meaning to fit hers, so I took a screenshot, and they finally did rewrite it. Wiki removed vaquero from 'The origins of the vaquero tradition come from Spain...'

AOC making fun of Rubio: "My favorite part is she he said cowboys are rooted in Spain. Uhhh, speak to Mexicans & African slaves!" FACT CHECK: Cowboys trace their roots to Spanish cattle herders. Spain brought the tradition to Mexico, where it evolved into the vaquero system, later moving north into Texas and the American West which later became the American cowboy.

@blightersort You nailed it. IMO, the federal government continually gaining power is a terrible idea.

there are in fact good civic arguments for the electoral college but they hinge on the fact that the united states is a union of states so things like the president (and in its original conception the senate) should be decided by state which, yes, may have different populations. but today no one understands anything so everyone thinks it should just be popular national vote for everything.
James Surowiecki@JamesSurowiecki

There's no good civic argument for the electoral college. It was arguably necessary to ensure the ratification of the Constitution, but it's an anti-democratic device that gives some American citizens far more voting power than others, based purely on where they live.

The new trend in government (both Republican and Democrat) is pushing blatantly unconstitutional policies, knowing they’ll get away with it for years until the Supreme Court finally steps in. The only real way to stop it is accountability: if a law or policy is ruled unconstitutional, anyone who voted for it or implemented it should be immediately removed from office and barred from holding office again. They’re all sworn to defend and uphold the Constitution. This shouldn’t even be controversial.

You want corporations who already pay the majority of our taxes through payroll tax to be taxed again to quench the thirst of government spending. I’m telling you that is a fools errand. It cannot be done. Also, those corporations pay all the wages which create all the wealth that the government already taxes. Corporations don’t just pocket that money by the way most is spent on R&D so they can provide even more value to shareholders and consumers in the future. The capital is much better used by them than by our wasteful government. THEIR WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH for the government as evidenced by the history of every single government that has ever graced this planet.

@k1rallik You fundamentally misunderstood the message YOU referenced and justified the dislike of media and the need for community notes on that post in one message. They’re posting about income tax, not federal taxes. These companies pay massive amounts in federal taxes. Dang you’re dumb

🚨do you understand what just happened with America's biggest corporations.. Disney made $8.3 BILLION in profit last year. Federal taxes paid: $0 CVS made $6.57 BILLION. Federal taxes paid: $0 Tesla made $5.7 BILLION. Federal taxes paid: $0 Meanwhile Tesla paid China $1 BILLION+ in taxes the same year. 88 corporations. $105 BILLION in US profits. Zero to the IRS. Instead? The government PAID THEM $4.7 billion in rebates. You paid more in federal taxes than Walt Disney. Let that sink in. > 1950s: corporations funded 1/3 of the federal budget > 2025: corporations fund 8.6% It's not illegal. It's not a loophole. It's the system working exactly as designed.

@Dryssa4 @SaveTheLibs @Vin_Diagram @GeodesicForce @JamesSurowiecki I agree. I felt like your initial response was arguing an easy “feels” takeaway: that the less imposing option is always more morally right. A libertarian point of view One of many points disputing that: often laws forcing behavior are required to preserve the rights of others

@JeloikT @SaveTheLibs @Vin_Diagram @GeodesicForce @JamesSurowiecki I was only speaking to specifically the abortion example you brought up. A law banning something enacts force on people, a law allowing something enacts force on the government to not restrict citizen rights. Some are "right", some are "wrong".

@Dryssa4 @SaveTheLibs @Vin_Diagram @GeodesicForce @JamesSurowiecki Taxes, gay cake, pronouns, gun regulations, school districting and busing, dei, book bans, voting ID. All things forced on some who don’t want that. Are you suggesting that if a law is allowing something. That it’s morally “right”? What about laws against murder and stealing?

@SaveTheLibs @Vin_Diagram @GeodesicForce @JamesSurowiecki That’s the reason states’ rights make so much sense. They can pass laws that reflect the general morals of the local population, instead of subjecting them to the average morals of the entire nation. It’s an inherently more humane and detailed system.

@JamesSurowiecki There are sooo many Included even in the title “United States” is the importance of the states. A straight popular vote completely bypasses the states’ input in the matter, directly empowering federal authority through diminishing states rights

@flackospalace More like the radicalized poor have realized that they’ll only be jailed for ~5 years for something like this and the consequences aren’t high enough to dissuade $100+ M in property damage.

@verifiedjeff @CalltoActivism Even if you are fine with the strict rule, the message it’s sending will have greater consequences. You think rich people with assets in New York can’t tell how they’re being villainized and can’t see the direction taxation is going in the state? They typically aren’t dumb

@CalltoActivism Still not a fan of Socialism/Communism, but I have zero problem with this. Out of state residents who can afford a second home valued at over 5 million dollars can absolutely afford to pay more taxes. This is a win. 🙏

🚨HUGE! In a stunning win for his tax the rich plan, Mayor Zohran Mamdani just reached a deal with Governor Kathy Hochul tax second homes valued over $5 million owned by out-of-state residents. The taxes will generate $500 million annually for the state. This is amazing.

@tex_devil_dog @JLee2028 @unlimited_ls This guy wasn’t even convicted of deadly force or murder because the case isn’t strong enough. In fact, this is so rare, that he is the first former NYPD officer sentenced to prison for an on-duty death in at least two decades This case is a new standard set by a NYC judge

@JeloikT @JLee2028 @unlimited_ls item in itself isn't deadly force, how it is used makes it deadly. Example of taser: LAPD Officer tased man, fall from the roof. Man died from the fall. Throwing object toward a moving vehicle is a force multiplier. Rock at a moving car is worse

@i_am_the_weenie Ironic that you chose to claim that a biological advantage doesn’t exist in esports and chess to prove your point. Elite players in those “sports” are overwhelmingly male. Of the top 100 chess players in the world, there is not a single female. Same w/ top 100 esport players by $

I'm sorry, but where is the biological advantage in throwing a dart at a board? Oh yeah, it's not there because, like in sports such as eSports and chess, biological advantage in darts doesn't exist. This is just purely and only the DRA taking advice from people who think they are know it alls on fairness in sports, but instead are know it alls in imported culture wars. #TransWomenAreWomen
Tungsten Tales Darts@Tungsten_Tales

😢 A tearful Noa-Lynn Van Leuven has announced her "retirement" after revealing a DRA ruling banning transgender players from women's darts events. "I just got an email, apparently I just got retired. Not by choice but because I am longer allowed to compete, the DRA decided that trans women are no longer allowed in women's events." "With just one decision, I am being told I don't belong anymore. This isn't just about me, it's another huge hit for the trans community." #Darts | Via Noa-Lynn Van Leuven Instagram
