My biggest discourse hot take is that Motte and Bailey arguments are not only fine, but it’s basically how all real discourse functions. If you make any kind of strong claim, then there’s a good chance that there are going to be reasonable objections and exceptions and so you field those from your critics and incorporate them into your argument, editing as you go, until you find the defensible core. It should be relatively easy to say, “yeah, you’re right, my original claim did go slightly too far, but here’s what I think is still true.” This is also what makes debate interesting and fun. We could all log on here and restrict our ourselves to only those things we believe with total certainty, those benign and banal statements against winch there are no possible objections. And you’re all free to do that, if you want, but at that point you might as well just log off. What’s the point?

I think we kind of need to talk about how people like Piker, Mamdani, or Platner get endless passes to do dumb shit because someone in the media found them sexy. It's very odd that how we think of public figures as a society is determined by one isolated class of elites' horniness for particular types of radical men. Also note that no female political figure ever gets that type of pass. Well, maybe AOC, she's pretty cute, but it's definitely a double edged sword. She doesn't get the sexy intellectual journalistic tongue bath.

I published a font w a license that requires an upfront 100k donation to charity to use legally. Then I prompted Replit, Lovable, Figma, Gemini, etc to make a site using the font. All of them downloaded the font and published the site without considering the license at all.

I have an aunt that was a total baddie, total Free Love Boomer into her early 30s, got loads of abortions, then completed her PhD and settled down with a lawyer. Divorced him, another lawyer. Divorced him, third lawyer. Separated from him, tried to make it work for years, had an affair with a guy that owned a contracting firm, got a quick divorce and was at the altar two weeks after it was finalized. Same deal, it turned sour after a while, they both found Jesus, got church counseling, it didn't work out, started dating the tallest and wealthiest retired lawyer at her church, just married him last year. So she's on marriage number five, in her 60s, never had kids of her own, and has absolutely no issue whatsoever finding educated, wealthy, good looking men with all their hair interested in her. There is no wall. There never was a wall. Men want wives and female companionship. If you're an extroverted, nice, happy, and take reasonably good care of yourself, you can find love at any age.

If you're playing a big 10 cost, you want it to either stabilize your board or win you the game within 1 more turn. If it's gaining 10/10/turn, it probably wants at least 2 more turns

@brianluidog The pattern is free resources are good? The first card we assume cause it costs 0 and replaces itself the only requirement is space in your deck, but if it's a game like dominion where it's controlled by actions per turn the power level drops cause it costs an action

After playing a few card games you notice patterns in card power. Like here are two made-up cards. You don't need to know anything at all about the game to know that one of them is totally broken, and the other one sucks.
