McDonalds does not exist without the car. Fast Food as an industry is impossible without transportation at scale. The economics of it would literally be impossible. To offer Fast Food, you need A LOT of customers coming to your restaurant. You cannot have A LOT of customers coming to your restaurant unless it's EASY for those customers to come to your restaurant. That's what the car enabled - easy access to the world outside of your home. Now think about AI the same as the car. AI is a foundational technology - just like the car. Entire industries will be born because of it. The question becomes - what are the businesses that don't exist yet - that will be gigantically massive - that are only possible BECAUSE of AI? What businesses are born - and are ONLY born - when you have infinitely scalable intelligence?

@jeremyct That does suck. Fortunately, the value of the house has increased significantly as well, I expect. It is a pain point. Communities all over the country are being forced to take on newcomers, build out new municipal resources and take the taxes on the chin.

my dad called me today stressed about property taxes. he’s 76, retired, and living on social security. been in the same house since the early 90s. mortgage paid off years ago. now his property taxes jumped from around $6,500 to over $8k. imagine spending your whole life paying off a home… and still being one tax bill away from losing it. that doesn’t sit right with me.

@morganhousel It's "indoctrinating girls that they LIVE in an era of uncertainty, their ancestors were evil and life is better SOLO YOLO!" that's really driving it. It's asshoes, directors of every movie now, convincing them, ""How could you bring a baby into this world?" LOL

I don't fully buy the idea that living in an age of uncertainty is what's driving the decline in fertility. The Baby Boom took place when your kids had to practice duck-and-cover drills at school to prepare for what was seen as the inevitable nuclear apocalypse.

@davidpattersonx Already true if your neighbor makes it with a W2 wage like you do. If the neighbor's smart enough to start a BUSINESS, he doesn't pay the same taxes, cause he has a TON of business expenses and PROBABLY supports many employees & their families. You just work for a guy like that.

If taxes were fair: You earn $100,000 per year and pay $30,000 in tax. Your neighbor earns $1,000,000 and pays $300,000 in tax. Your neighbor is paying 10X more than you. If taxes were fair, you should both pay $30,000, since you both receive the same government services.

@simonmaechling No Simon. Chemistry doesn't keep us alive. Nutrition does. We LIVE just fine without ANY help in most cases. It's hard to kill a well nutritioned human CHILD, let alone an adult. You have to cause extreme trauma, cut open the meatbag or poison them. They've been poisoning us.

I’m a chemist. I need to say this - because it’s getting dangerous out there. It’s called chemophobia. And it’s turning scientifically illiterate panic into a personality trait. People are now terrified of: • “artificial chemicals” • molecules made in a lab • pesticides at parts-per-billion • ingredients they can’t pronounce Meanwhile they drink alcohol, inhale smoke, burn fuel, eat plant toxins and scroll on phones built entirely by chemistry. The hypocrisy is unbelievable. Chemistry is not some dark force attacking humanity. Chemistry is: • medicine • fertilizers • vaccines • materials • electronics • clean water • food preservation • modern agriculture • literally your own body Without chemistry, modern civilization collapses frighteningly fast. And yet social media has convinced millions of people that “chemical-free” is a meaningful scientific concept. It isn’t. And when fear replaces chemistry, people stop trusting: • vaccines
• medicines
• food safety
• crop protection
• innovation itself A scientifically illiterate society becomes easy to manipulate. So yes - I will keep defending chemistry. Because chemistry is not the enemy. Chemistry is the reason most of us are alive long enough to complain about it.

@myth_pilot Economics. The flow of wealth upward. Yes. Not obscure, PUSH. If it didn't start that way it sure ended as such. Globalist asshoes simply directed all the activists they pumped out of the Universities to "influence people's behavior in relation". They did. Fink said it directly.

Now that it’s winding down, what *was* the climate change movement, fundamentally? Was it a transfer scheme for the third world? Was it a means to obscure decline? Was it a tool to own domestic political opponents? What do you think

@ecommerceshares They are led by globalists. Globalists like to compartmentalize away from the countries they are "changing". Aggression toward countries that escaped communism and multiculturalism are their priority items for the next 20.

Obama ordered the Dec 8, 2016 PDB (Presidential Daily Brief) not to be released. He ordered a fabricated intel report created on Dec 9, 2016. On Dec 16, 2016 he's already out publicly promoting the fake report that is still being written for release on Jan 6, 2017.

This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.

@JeremyZakora @mikepat711 Not sure where you get the additional 3 hours. We went from Virginia to Vermont. I think we made 3 comfort stops each way. The car was always ready to leave before we were (about 20-30 minutes for each stop).

The two biggest things people ask me about my Tesla are: 1) Do you have problems charging it? 2) What do you do when you have to take long trips? I need you to understand this. I travel a lot by car. Long distances north/south/east/west through rural parts of every state, 500+ mile trips often. Teslas are WAY BETTER than any other car for road trips. Way better than any gas car, way better than any other EV. It is far EASIER, not harder, to road trip in a Tesla. You don’t have to look for charging. This is all done by software. You don’t have to plan stops. This is all done by software. You don’t have to drive or navigate. This is all done by software. You get into a Tesla, type or speak any destination anywhere, press “start self driving” on the screen, and that’s it. You’re done. The rest is all handled by software. You just have to sit there and enjoy the view. Zero stress, zero deciding which rest stop to stop at when you think your tanks gonna be low, zero worry about wrong turns, zero attention required to nav. Just kick back and take it in. It makes a 8 hour road trip feel like 2 hours, and you feel completely refreshed upon arrival, like you were sitting on your couch relaxing. No neck tension, no brain fatigue from keeping a car from crashing for 8 hours. It’s way better than any other vehicle for travel, not the opposite. I’m on a 600 mile work trip right now, and if someone told me I had to give up my Tesla and start traveling by ICE car again, I’d prob look for a new job. Seriously. It is way way better for travel.

by the time i hit 65, over $550k will have gone into social security for me. at just a 5% return, that could’ve grown to around $1.7M… throwing off about $85k a year. instead, i’m promised roughly $3k/month… about $36k a year. yeah… make that make sense.

@mattyglesias This is like turning off social media for kids NOW, after 20 years of using the tech to turn kids socialist. They don't ban a thing when it's usefulness to THEM is at it's peak. They abuse it, THEN use that abuse as the excuse to lock it down so the other side can't use it.

@kkrespawned A "regular" person has an entire life in front of them. They also can get a second job. They can trim their expenses. They can DO things. A Sr. is in the part of their life where DOING things gets 5x-10x harder. A young person has options available to them.

I don’t understand super rich people’s end game. If no one has a living wage… they can’t buy your products, services or rent the properties the rich own/hoard. So wouldn’t it all collapse?

It’s in literally everyone’s best interest (except, maybe, suburban home builders) to have great urban neighborhoods. The suburbs are better when sparsely populated, and the city center is better when surrounded by great urban neighborhoods and amenities.
