Four New Jersey residents were charged today in connection with illegally voting in federal elections and making false statements while applying for United States citizenship, U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Robert Frazer announced. According to the complaints, each of the defendants cast ballots in at least one federal election, including the 2020 and 2024 general elections for president and the 2022 midterm elections.

The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit challenging New Jersey laws which provide in-state tuition and financial assistance for illegal immigrants. The lawsuit argues such laws "unconstitutionally discriminate against U.S. citizens who are not afforded the same reduced tuition rates, scholarships, or subsidies, create incentives for illegal immigration, and reward illegal immigrants with benefits that U.S. citizens are not eligible for, all in direct conflict with federal law."
